Last Week:

Oh, the Tribal Council target was placed, right where Christian was sittin’,

But, then along came Davie, with an idol that was previously hidden,

And somewhere fans are laughing, and somewhere the Goliaths shout,

But there is no joy in Slamtown – mighty John was voted out.

39 Days, 20 People, 1 “Survivor” Blog

Let’s take a look at the tribes as they currently stand…

The Olakolak Tribe (wearing blue)
Alec, 24 – Bartender
Alison, 28 – Physician
Angelina, 28 – Financial Consultant
Carl, 41 – Truck Driver
Christian, 32 – Robotics Scientist
Dan, 27 – S.W.A.T. Officer
Davie, 30 – Social Media Manager
Gabby, 25 – Technical Writer
Kara, 30 – Realtor
Mike, 47 – Filmmaker
Nick, 27 – Public Defender

Post-Tribal Shenanigans

Immediately after they return to camp, Davie is making the case that “Survivor” players should respect big moves. Yeah, I’d say the same thing too if I’d just done that. Probably doesn’t lessen the target on his back.

But, once he’s free to say what he really feels, he cuts a wrestling promo on the former mayor of Slamtown. However, Davie doesn’t give himself a cool wrestling name. Fortunately, he has me…

Oh, and we also learn that Davie has John’s jacket. Wait, a free jacket is floating around and Angelina didn’t snag it? That’s cold…literally and figuratively.

The shocked Goliaths regroup, with Alison, Kara, and Alec trying to pick up the pieces. Alison, in particular is frustrated because she’s been telling the Davids that she’s ready to make a big move, however she hasn’t done it.

In other news, Dan is not thrilled that the Goliaths are chatting without him. He gets snippy with Kara and she decides that it’s time to move on without him.

Reward Challenge Time: The tribe will be split into two teams based on a random draw. The odd person out will not get to play and won’t get a chance at the reward. (BOOOOOO!) They’ll race through an obstacle course to retrieve a bag of numbered tiles. The tiles will give them a combination. The combination lock will release a key they will free a set of puzzle pieces. The first tribe to finish their puzzle will win a trip to a burger bar.

The Teams: Angelina, Christian, Alison, Gabby, and Nick will face Dan, Alec, Davie, Kara, and Mike. Poor Carl is the odd person out again. Let him vote on the winner, you jerks!

The Result: Dan, Alec, Davie, Kara, and Mike picked up the win.

Cheeseburger in Paradise

While Davie sneaks off, (I’m assuming looking for an advantage), Mike again makes the point that the Goliaths won’t be able to defeat the Davids in front of a jury. Which is the point I was making since the first day I heard about this concept. The theme gives the Goliaths a reason not to work with the other side, which wouldn’t have been the case if the theme was “People Who Wear Orange Buffs vs. People Who Wear Purple Buffs.”

Dan’s Kara-ble Mistake

Sooooo…in order to earn Alison and Alec’s trust, Kara spills the beans about Dan’s second idol. Hmm…if only Dan had been listening when I was screaming at my television screen a few weeks ago.

Christian’s Guide to the Universe

The Davids all go on an idol hunt. Christian decides to use a breadth-first search technique that has you do a little bit of work in a lot of areas. He breaks the island down into sectors and puts his plan into effect. Sure enough, he figures it out.

Immunity Challenge Time: The players will have to balance balls on a disc and carry them across an obstacle course. Once they have all three balls at the end, they’ll have to put them in the proper place on a snake-shaped table maze. The first person to complete this puzzle will win immunity.

Resullt: Alec wins it and it isn’t even close.

Pre-Tribal Politicking

At first, it seems like Alison, Alec, and Kara are going to pull the trigger on voting out Dan. But, because the David’s are so willing to go along with their plan, Alison gets cold feet again.

So, they were too willing?

Alec and Alison pivot and decide to target Christian. However, the Davids aren’t buying the new story. They’ve been lied to too often.

The Davids have a little meeting of their own and decide to open up about all of their advantages. So, they have Nick’s steal-a-vote, Carl’s idol-nullifier, and Christian’s immunity idol. It’s like Infinity Stones, snap your fingers and half of the tribe is going to be bummed.

Tribal Time

Nothing terribly concrete was said, other than the Goliaths seeming to admit that they’re going to stick together.

Oh, and before the voting started, Nick stole Alison’s vote.

Dun…dun…dun…

Voting Time: No votes are shown, but Alison, Alec, and Kara are all nodding at each other. Also, Dan asks Kara if he should play his idol for himself or Alison.

JPro tallies and returns. He asks if anyone wants to play an idol and…Dan does! For himself!

However…Carl has played his idol nullifier…against Dan! Dan’s idol does not count!

This would be the perfect time to play an idol nullifier nullifier!

Also, poor Dan…wondering what an idol nullifier is.

Alright, we’ve got three votes for Christian, two votes for Angelina, four votes for Dan, and the tenth person eliminated from “Survivor: David vs. Goliath” is…Dan.

Wow…and if you were wondering, Kara and Alec voted for Angelina. I’m assuming because they knew Christian wasn’t going home.

Oh, and that sound you heard in the background was “Survivor” producers high-fiving.

Verdict: Holy cow, you’d have to go back to “Heroes vs. Villains” to find back-to-back Tribal Councils this amazing. Well done, folks.

  • Carl, Nick, Christian, Gabby, and Davie – (Slow clap)
  • Kara – Hey, you tried. Good for you.
  • Mike – At the end of the day, I think Mike is right. I think the Goliaths should stick together. And he got his way. Too bad Advantage-geddon II wrecked his plan.
  • Alison and Alec – There’s just no way the Davids should trust you going forward. And with Dan gone, Alec’s challenge prowess is going to stick out like a sore thumb.
  • Angelina – I can’t give you full credit if you don’t show your work.

Power Rankings Results: Bradley Kleihege had Dan in spot eleven, I had him in spot nine. So, the current score is Team Bradley 87, Team Gordon 95.
