“Survivor 44” Episode 11 Recap – Circle of Trust

“Survivor 44” (CBS)

Welcome to MoreWhatnot.com, my personal blog where I’ll be posting “Survivor” episode recaps all season long. For exit interviews with all of the eliminated players and the RETURN of the “Survivor” Power Rankings with Owen Knight, be sure to check out my YouTube channel!

Last Week: Jaime was burned for keeping it true, Carson’s 3-D printer told him what to do, and Frannie was sent to be with her boo.

39 26 Days, 18 People, 1 “Survivor” Blog

Let’s take a look at the tribe as it currently stands…

The Va Va Tribe (wearing black)

  • Carolyn, 35 – Drug Counselor
  • Carson, 20 – NASA Engineering Student
  • Danny 32 – Firefighter
  • Heidi, 29 – Engineering Manager
  • Jaime, 35 – Yogi
  • Lauren, 31 – Elementary School Teacher
  • Yam Yam, 36 – Salon Owner

Post-Tribal Shenanigans

Carolyn is on fire! Stooge-splosion! Carson and Yam Yam try to talk her down, but she just isn’t having it.

In other news, Danny is trying to figure out who else voted for him. Heidi claims it was Frannie, but we who have access to last week’s epilogue know better.

Apparently Yam Yam knows this too, as he spills the beans to Danny. But, Danny doesn’t buy it. Thus, putting a target on Yam Yam’s back.

This is the season of no good deed going unpunished. How many people have been dinged for telling the truth?

I’d be so impressed if they could just convince Danny that he voted for himself.

The following morning, Jaime hosts a little sharing circle. New “Survivor” everybody! What would Randy Bailey think about this?

We’re also treated to Heidi’s story. Heidi is an electrical engineer…just like my dad!

Um…then we get a long segment of Carolyn swimming with lobster parts. Maybe we don’t need 90-minute episodes.

Trouble for Tika

Carolyn eventually comes around and claims to trust Carson and Yam Yam again. Not enough to tell Yam Yam about her idol though.

As Yam Yam and Carolyn discuss their dream final three (Yam Yam’s is himself three times) the rest of the tribe is coming to the realization that the former Tikas are running the show.

Welcome to two episodes ago.

Immunity Challenge Time: The players will float underneath a grate. As the water rises, they’ll have less time to catch their breath. The last person under the grate wins immunity.

Result: It comes down to Heidi and Yam Yam with Yam Yam pulling off the win!

Pre-Tribal Politicking

Tika is super psyched to be on the verge of taking control of the game, but the rest of the group has no problem getting rid of Carson to stop that from happening.

The plan is to tell Tika that they’re splitting the vote between Jaime and Lauren.

It’s interesting that nobody seems worried about going to the end with Carolyn. In fact, they seem more worried about how she’s going to react after another blindside when they get back to camp.

Carolyn sniffs out the plan though. She tries to get Danny to admit to it, but he sticks to his guns.

Carson pitches a counter-plan to Jaime and Lauren to split the vote between Danny and Heidi.

Carolyn is determined to keep Carson around, so she tells him about the Tika idol. Her big concern is if Danny plays an idol for himself. So, maybe they should vote for Heidi.

(That sound you’re hearing, coming from eastern Pennsylvania, is me laughing.)

Tribal Time

Nothing super interesting happens other than Danny telling Carolyn that “Comparison is a thief of joy” during a weird conversation. That’s some bumper sticker material there.

We also have some fun as Carolyn tells Probst that he’s annoying her. Good times.

Voting Time: No votes are shown, but we get a montage of Carolyn counting her fingers.

JPro tallies and returns. He asks if anyone wants to play an idol or an advantage and…Carolyn plays her idol for Carson.

Alright, we’ve got two votes for Carson, two votes for Danny, two votes for Heidi, and the twelfth person eliminated from “Survivor 44” is…Danny.

And Danny makes sure to give Jeff his best Robert DeNiro impersonation as his torch is snuffed. Because…of course.

Verdict: So…no reason for Jaime and Lauren working with Tika? I hate leaving too much out of the edit in order to get a surprise result. New “Survivor” is really turning me off with that.

Also, I know they’re acting like Tika is running the show now, but that isn’t the case as long as Heidi has an idol.

That being said, they haven’t made much of a case for Lauren, Jaime, or Heidi winning the whole game.

Buuut…you could make the same argument for Gabler last season. So, what do I know?

Power Rankings Result: “Survivor 43” Finalist Owen Knight had Danny in spot six while I had him in spot four. So, the current score is Team Holmes 73, Team Knight 88. Check out my YouTube channel for the full episodes!

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is a.jpgCarolyn – If you’re a threat to win, then why isn’t your name coming up? That’ll probably change after your idol move. Even though it really didn’t matter because you already had the votes. And, you still have two big jury threats by your side. What’s your story? I feel like all three of the Tika members can win. Is that a horrible end-game strategy? I’m lost. I’m gonna go lie down.
This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is a-.jpgYam Yam and Carson – You fellas are just a step down because Carolyn deserves her flowers this week. (That’s a thing the kids say, right?)
This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is b-.jpgLauren and Jaime – Tika’s story is so strong, the only way I can see this duo or Heidi winning is if they get there as a unit.
This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is c.jpgHeidi – It’s probably not great when the best thing you can say about a person is; she didn’t burn her idol.
