WordPress has a function that allows you to see the search terms people have used to find your site. For the past seven days, this is what my top ten list has looked like…
1. Reasons Why Glee Is Rubbish
2. Marshmallow Woman
3. Marshmallow Sailor
4. Senor Chang Elf
5. Stay Puft
6. Glee Is Rubbish
7. Glee Annoys Me
8. Glee Club Sucks
9. Glee Is Crap
10. Glee Crap
The reason for ‘Glee’s’ multiple showings on this list is clearly the piece I wrote entitled ‘Seven Reasons Why ‘Glee’ Annoys the Crap Out of Me.’
Now, while I don’t think ‘Glee’ has done much to alleviate my concerns I will give them credit for one thing; every now and then they do show you something you’ve never seen before.
What I’m referring to specifically is a scene in last night’s episode where the lead singer of the Warblers, Blaine, serenaded a male employee at a Gap clothing store.
Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Gordon, good point. I’ve never seen someone try to woo someone with a song at a mall.”
Well, that’s not what I’m getting at at all. I, myself sang Shai’s “If I Ever Fall In Love” to Annette Miller in a Claire’s at the Berkshire Mall. So yeah, that’s totally an everyday occurrence.
And yes, that’s the same Berkshire Mall where the texter walked into the fountain. Berks Country, represent.
What I’m getting at is I’ve never seen a gay man woo another gay man on television before. It wasn’t played for laughs, they didn’t show straight people acting repulsed, and no old women passed out.
It was downright adorable.
Does this make up for the other 57 minutes of eye roll-worthy garbage? No. Seriously, I’ve seen better thought out story lines in episodes of ‘The Three Stooges.’
But for that one brief song, they got it right.
