‘Big Brother’ Power Rankings – Battle of the Blockhead Edition

July 15, 2014

'Big Brother' (CBS)

The Rules: Each week our two combatants will create separate power rankings. The ranking of the person who is voted out of the next episode will determine the number of points the two players will earn. For example, if Donny is voted out this week, Rachel will receive 3 points and Gordon will receive 2 points. At the end of the season, the person with the most points will be named the “Big Brother” Power Rankings Challenge Champion!

Last Week: Rachel called it, she had Paola in spot fifteen. Gordon has Paola in spot fourteen. So, the current score is Team Rachel 28, Team Gordon 27.

Quick Note: “Big Brother” is always going on. These Rankings were handed in Monday.

Rachel’s Score = 28

 1. Derrick – As reigning HOH Derrick is safe this week, he even had one of his allies volunteer to go on the block for him. So, he only had to get blood on his hands with one houseguest. His back-door-Devin plan makes the house happy and no one thinks of this as a crazy HOH week. Question is; is Derrick using his HOH to make his game better or to do what the house wants?
  1. Derrick – Derrick’s having a near-perfect week. His plan to send Devin packing can only be derailed by a Devin Power of Veto win. He’s having a blast with his Team America buddies. And, he doesn’t have to wear a frog outfit.
 2. Nicole – This cute small-town girl is showing us that she is not only a fan but has a few wins up her sleeve, we expect to see a lot from this one. She nominates Donny last minute and feels badly about it and cries to him, he says it’s OK and then they make an alliance. Way to turn your cards in your favor!   2. Donny – Donny’s gotta be the guy everyone’s afraid to go to the end with. He’s fun, he’s funny, he’s sweet, but he can’t stick around forever. For now he’s safe, but they’ve got to keep an eye on him.
 3. Donny – Donny is on NO ONE’S radar and he’s everyone’s BFF! He has an alliance with the people not in the bomb squad so he wont be caught in the drama!
  3. Amber – Am I a bad person for really hoping that Amber has a serious boyfriend waiting for her on the outside? Either way, she’s super safe. The fallout of the destruction of the Bomb Squad will probably take out Caleb and Devin, but she should be able to slink away.

 4. Amber – I think Amber is losing her game with the girls since she’s growing closer to the boys everyday. She needs to grab some girls or other allies on her side ASAP or she’s going to be on the outs of the house.
  4. Hayden – The good news: You’re invited into the big alliance! The bad news: The big alliance is crumbling. But, no harm, no foul. Nobody’s worried about Hayden.
 5. Frankie – Frankie is BFF with everyone and very charming. He’s in the bomb squad but he’s also distancing himself so he won’t get caught in the fire.
  5. Frankie – Wait a minute…that guy’s eyes and mouth look just like teen singing sensation Ariana Grande! I know Frankie was one of the heavy hitters in the Bomb Squad, but he’s likable enough that he should be able to move on without too much heat.
 6. Christine – Christine is good with Nicole and Hayden and in with the boys. She seems to be gaming we just want to see her step up her game in a competition.
  6. Amber – Superman has kyptonite, the Green Lantern has the color yellow, and Devin has people who have kids. Weird, right? Anywho, I was sure Brittany was a goner last week. But I guess with all the time between nominations and the actual vote, there’s plenty of time for people’s minds to be changed.
 7. Cody – Cody is part of the bomb squad and also BFF with all the boys! All the girls love him and there’s NO WAY he would be considered as a veto replacement.
  7. Zach – You dodged a bullet last week, my bro-tastic friend. And, I’m betting that your nemesis Devin is on his way out of the house. What’re your next steps? Who can you trust?
 8. Zach – Zach is part of the bomb squad and also friends with Derrick. There would be no reason for Derrick to backdoor Zach.
 8. Christine – Great move by Christine on outing the Bomb Squad to her buddies before it caused them not to trust her. Whatever alliance ends up taking the lead now, I’m betting Christine will be near the top of it.
 9. Brittany – Brittany shouldn’t be put up as a replacement since she’s friends with Derrick and the boys seem to like her. Brittney still seems to not really have an alliance in the house but we see her gravitating towards Jocasta and Donny. This should keep her in the house longer since no one is going to target them.   9. Nicole – Nicole, you’ve got to put on your big girl pants and start playing like an adult. No more crying when you put “Duck Dynasty” extras up on the block. No more worrying about the ghost that haunts the CBS sound stage. Suck it up!
 10. Victoria – Is Victoria on this show? We’re all confused…where she’s been?
  10. Cody – Smart, likable, in shape, under-the-radar…he’s exactly who I’d be trying to get rid of at this point. I wonder if anyone else realizes that…
 11. Hayden – Hayden is probably safe this week but if Derrick was playing the game for himself he should use the veto to put Hayden up. Hayden isn’t in Derrick’s alliance and Hayden isn’t friends with him, so it would make a lot of sense to put Hayden up and vote out a strong guy! I like Hayden and especially with Nicole but if Derrick wants to win the game he’s got to eliminate the competition!
 11. Victoria – If she was on “Survivor,” I’m thinking they’d be calling her “Purple Victoria.”
 12. Jocasta – Jocasta should be safe this week. Even on the block she shouldn’t be a target since she hasn’t done anything and is friends with most everyone in the house.
 12. Jocasta – She’s like Pow Pow Part Deux. And like Pow Pow, she’s probably not the real target.
 13. Caleb – Caleb volunteered to be on the block this week and then THREW THE BOB so he should go home just because of that. It blows my mind he THREW the BOB for Amber when she doesn’t even like him…you’re not being a gentleman or a hero you’re just being DUMB! You’re on the “Big Brother” Caleb not a dating show.
 13. Caleb – Welp, I put myself on the block and threw a challenge for you. Now you’re going to have to marry me. Seriously, I haven’t seen an unrequited love this sad since Steve Urkel was putting the moves on Laura Winslow.
 14. Devin – Devin, Devin, Devin…what are they going to do with this one? The SMART game move for Derrick would be to keep Devin in the game so there’s a target in the house and Devin isn’t going after Derrick! SO FOR THE HOH it’s a win-win. Plus, Derrick should just get rid of Hayden since he is a strong guy too and likeable!
 14. Devin – OK, I’m fuzzy on the rules. Can Devin volunteer to perform in the Power of Veto competition? If not, that’s kind of messed up that he doesn’t get a chance to protect himself. That being said, it looks like he’s a goner unless he can claim that cool Ghostbuster-esque necklace.

‘Big Brother’ Power Rankings – The Devin Made Me Do It Edition

July 8, 2014

'Big Brother' (CBS)

The Rules: Each week our two combatants will create separate power rankings. The ranking of the person who is voted out of the next episode will determine the number of points the two players will earn. For example, if Donny is voted out this week, Rachel will receive 9 points and Gordon will receive 4 points. At the end of the season, the person with the most points will be named the “Big Brother” Power Rankings Challenge Champion!

[xfinity-record-button id=”5666923899412353112″ program_type=”series”]

Last Week: Rachel and Gordon both had Joey in spot thirteen. So, the current score is Team Rachel 13, Team Gordon 13.

Before we get into this week’s action, let’s check in with our two competitors…

Gordon Holmes: Now that we have the first elimination under our belts, how are you feeling?
Rachel Reilly: I was confused at first with how the game would play out, but now I REALLY love all the twists and changes! I love that there are two HOHs and four nominees, it really forces people to game it up! I also love the Battle of the Block competition, it’s like having a second veto in play. If you don’t win HOH you almost want to be nominated so that you have two chances to save yourself and no chance to get back doored! I would love to play in a game like this because there is basically a game-related competition every day! It also is exciting as a viewer to watch!

Holmes: We have Battles of the Block, Powers of Vetoes, and now Team Americas. “Big Brother” is so confusing!
Reilly: At first I was confused too… but I just started to look at all the opportunities and all the new gaming that people have to do and got excited!
Holmes: Any tips for me so I can stay on top of it all?
Reilly: For a “Survivor” expert like yourself, I think to understand what’s going on you have use your “Survivor” knowledge and look at the first part like that… there’s two HoHs – kinda like two tribes…four people are nominated for eviction… then the four play to win the Battle of the Block (kinda like a “Survivor” challenge the losing team has to vote someone out of their tribe, in “Big Brother” the losing team has to stay on the block). BUT unlike “Survivor” the losing team gets to play for another chance to stay in the house called Power of Veto! POV is like having an immunity idol every week but even better because there’s a new chance to win one every week!
Holmes: That’s actually a pretty solid analogy. But, I don’t quite get Team America yet.
Reilly: I don’t think any of us really know what Team America means yet… but I think once we find out it will be very fun challenges and tasks, and that will come later!

Holmes: So, the last time we saw you was in the “Amazing Race” finale. What’ve you been up to since then?
Reilly: Currently I am hosting and producing a show called “Reality Relapse” on Bite Size TV! YAY I LOVE IT! We talk about all things reality TV (my fav. subject). We cover the hottest gossip, events, red carpets, premieres, and we interview your favorite reality celebs as well as interviewing producers, cast, and everyone involved with your favorite reality TV shows! I also just was cast in two indie movies filming later this year so I’m working on my actressing skills.

Quick Note: “Big Brother” is always going on. These Rankings were handed in Monday.

 1. Devin – Reigning HOH and “I’m in charge-Power HUNGRY” mentality, Devin will be the most safe this week.  The bomb squad alliance is happy he’s in power, but they are all worried that they don’t know what he’s going to do. He lets the power get to him and gushes all his feelings in house meetings and basically throws his alliance under the bus and basically calls out his alliance to the house. Therefore he’s probably going to be a target next week…or the smart houseguests would keep a target in the house! WE WILL SEE!
  1. Devin – Let’s make this clear, Devin…you are only tops on the list because you have immunity. This week has been a train wreck for you. You seem like a bit of a Russell Hantz to me where your strategic logic is sound, but your social game is a disaster. You need to take it easy and show people your less intense side. You do have a less intense side, don’t you?
 2. Hayden – Since they won Battle of the Block this week, they can’t be voted out and can still play in the next HOH! Were not always sure what Hayden is talking about but we love him and this cute budding showmance! Plus they are always smiling and haven’t let being nominated or the house bring them down.    2. Nicole – Yeah, you’re safe, but the ghost thing is weird. You’re an adult. And you’re on a sound stage. Sigh…I dunno. Maybe Zingbot can bring you a proton pack.
 3. Nicole – See Hayden.
  3. Hayden – “Big Brother” may be confusing with its many twists and turns, but at least the top three names on the Power Rankings are pretty easy to figure out.

 4. Amber – Amber is safe this week since Devin is her BFF and she lets him make all her HOH moves. She’s competitive and we all love a competitive woman, but then allows the boys to control her HOH thinking she’s in an alliance with them! She even says she just wanted to see a pic of her family. Trust us…we get it, girl…but ya came to win “Big Brother” not just win pictures of your family, RIGHT? I hope she doesn’t turn out to be the Brittney of the ‘BRO-gade’ Bomb Squad!
  4. Donny – I love me some Donny. And I’m pretty sure Devin’s group meeting will keep him from putting Donny up for eviction if Paola or Brittany manage to win their way off of the block.
 5. Caleb – Caleb is seen with the HOH all week either being used as his puppy or just in every meeting that Devin has. Question we all want to know is; is Caleb sitting in on the meetings because he wants to know what’s going down or because he feels like he needs to keep an eye on Devin?
  5. Caleb – Caleb and Amber sitting in a tree…T-A-L-K-I-N-G. First comes awkwardness, then comes a polite yet firm denial of affection. Then comes Caleb continuing to think of ways to introduce Amber to his parents. (OK, that didn’t come close to rhyming.) What does this mean for Caleb’s game? Who knows? But I believe “Survivor’s” Malcolm Freberg put it best when he warned against getting “Booty blinded.”
 6. Derrick – Derrick is also part of the bomb squad and in pretty good with Devin, we even see Devin going to Derrick for help and advice, meaning he trusts him.
  6. Amber – Devin would be crazy to put Amber up after a veto. First, because she’s a solid Bomb Squad member and stuck to the plan. And second, because Caleb would kill him dead.
 7. Christine – Christine is now an honorary member of the bomb squad and also is BFF with most of the houseguests and in an alliance with Hayden and Nicole.
  7. Derrick – Good to see Derrick sticking to his guns (no pun intended) when the idea of putting a Bomb Squader on the block was floated. Dude’s in a great position with Devin and Caleb getting all of the attention.
 8. Frankie – Frankie is in the bomb squad and also not making any crazy waves with anyone in the house.
 8. Frankie – Much better this week, Frankie. You’re a main member of the Bomb Squad, but you can hang back and be nice to everyone while Devin and Caleb take all the bullets. My only concern for you is this weird thing with Zach. What’s his angle?
 9. Donny – Donny is not in the bomb squad but Devin feels badly that he wanted him out of the house and Donny is just so darn likeable that no one wants to target him!   9. Christine – Learn from Joey, Christine. Don’t let anyone in the Bomb Squad know about the side misfit alliance you have going on. If you play your cards right, you can keep Nicole and Hayden safe long enough to make some noise.
 10. Cody – Cody is part of the bomb squad and also BFF with all the boys! He’s becoming close friends with Brittany and Devin is into him so it’s unlikely he would be considered as a veto replacement.
  10. Zach – Zach seems pretty harmless at this point, but the faux showmance (fauxmance?) with Frankie might raise some flags. If he’s not interested in Frankie as a partner, then what’s his angle? And worse, what if Frankie’s feelings get hurt?
 11. Zach – Zach is part of the bomb squad and also BFF with Frankie who is in with Devin. However, if Zach steps on the wrong toes and Devin makes a move to get out a bomb squad member Zach would be the first to go.
 11. Cody – I feel like Cody is playing the kind of game I’d be playing out there (minus the muscles). Stay socially strong while the alpha males make all the moves. My only worry for Cody? Devin and Caleb might figure out what he’s doing.
 12. Jocasta – She should be pretty safe this week but we don’t really see her at all in the episodes. Most likely because she is not making moves, waves and is not being considered for eviction! This is the thing with Jocasta and 15 houseguests, she’s laying low but that’s all she really needs to do! There’s STILL 15 people in the house and she has NO reason to ruffle feathers this early on! Devin wouldn’t consider her to go up and that means she’s playing a pretty good social game!
 12. Victoria – Uh…you’re still on this show.
 13. Victoria – We don’t really see her a lot this week in the episodes, which means she doesn’t have a lot going on. However due to her not being in the bomb squad and the fact that her alliance is herself and maybe she talks to a few houseguests… She has been rubbing some of the people the wrong way, so there’s a chance when asked that Victoria’s name as a nominee replacement, if one is played, would come up.
 13. Jocasta – If Brittany or Paola manage to win their way off of the block, there aren’t a ton of targets left for the Bomb Squad. That’s the problem with having 40 people in your alliance.
 14. Brittany – Brittany is on my list to make it far in the game! If she can make the house her puppet she will stay this week. She just needs to convince a few people to vote for her. I wouldn’t count this hot mom out for a minute! She’s tough, she’s fighting for a cause and she’s very composed under pressure! She’s one tough cookie and grows on this former houseguest every week! I kinda love her! Being nominated twice in the first 2 weeks and being on slop hasn’t brought her down, in fact it’s starting to make her more outspoken! GET IT, GIRL! If she can make it through this week I think she will continue to go far in the game. Plus she’s using her place on the block to make new friends and create alliances.
 14. Paola – What an interesting role Paola finds herself in. She’s terrible at challenges and not terribly offensive. She’s the perfect person to pair with the person you want to send packing.
 15. Paola – Pow Pow has to be careful since she is on the block AGAIN! One wrong move and she may just piss some people in the house off and go home. She agreed to Devin’s deal to throw the competition but she did it in a way that seems very obvious that she’s throwing the competition. Which could out her deal with Devin and actually make her a target in the house. Pow’s best move this week would be to get Devin use the veto on her OR to nominate a person that she knows will 100% go home and not a gamble like Brittney… Try to turn Devin on the boys that would be an EPIC MOVE!
 15. Brittany – The bad news? You’re one of two people on the block. The worse news? You’re not Paola. If you lose the Power of the Veto competition, you’re heading home. And, that’ll make Devin happy. And, that will make me sad.

Gordon Holmes: Kat, always a pleasure. And who’s this guy?
Hayden Moss: Hayden Moss, I was on “Big Brother.” I live just outside of Dallas and I work in real estate.
Kat Edorsson: Isn’t it more important to say, “Winner of ‘Big Brother’”?
Gordon: Whoa…what is this “Big Brother”?
Hayden: It’s another reality show.
Gordon: Not familiar. Kat, tell me about this “Big Brother” winner.
Kat: He’s tall, dark, and handsome. He’s charming. He comes from a great family. He’s one of a kind. He’s my best friend in the entire world. And he is the love of my life.
Gordon: Ugh…so many happy people today.
Hayden: I would agree with all of that. She’s tooting my horn quite a bit. I’m a little more humble. I wouldn’t ordinarily say that stuff.
Gordon: That’s why he has you here.
Kat: (Laughs) That’s why I’m here.

Gordon: Alright Kat, four people who have done the XFINITY “Survivor” Power Rankings have come back and played the game. Three of them made it to the finals and one of them won the whole shebang. No pressure.
Kat: That is awesome. I feel like I have a good chance where I’m positioned in the game already.
Hayden: If she plays her cards right she could float all the way to the end.

Gordon: During the “One World” final Tribal Council, you said you’d need another heart surgery before playing again. Was that all taken care of?
Kat: I go to my checkups every year and they said I can prolong it. They didn’t see any more than average leaking and they didn’t see any pressure or restraint on my valve. So, I don’t have a date set right now. I can’t say what will happen in the future, but my family and I think it’s a miracle that I’ve gone this long. Right now I’m as healthy as a horse. I’m very happy.

Gordon: We don’t know much about the other nine family members. But, we all know that Hayden has got some game. I joked earlier, but winning “Big Brother” is a big deal. Are you ready to deal with the target on your back?
Hayden: I know there are people here who have watched “Big Brother.” I played, and I played well. But, at the same time I’m going to be able to use what I learned there to my advantage. I’ve played the social game. None of the other loved ones have.
Gordon: I love me some “Survivor.” I used to say, “I’m gonna go on that show. Cut some throats, make some brilliant moves, win the million.” But, the older I get, the more I realize that I don’t function well when I don’t eat. That isn’t something you had to worry about in the “Big Brother” house.
Hayden: The physical game is a whole other ballgame. This is living off the land, not eating, not sleeping, then exerting yourself to the max. In terms of preparation, I grew up in the country. So, I’m going to be more capable of taking care of myself than most people. I’ve gutted a fish, I’ve been on hunts…
Kat: And when he says, “country,” he means “country.”
Hayden: (Laughs) Out in the boonies. I’m not afraid of it.

Gordon: How long have you two been dating?
Kat and Hayden: A year.
Gordon: Where’d you meet?
Kat: We met at a reality event.
Hayden: Give Kids the World in Orlando, Florida. Can’t wait to go back.
Gordon: A year. I’m an old man, so that almost seems like nothing to me. Have you fought? Do you guys ever fight?
Hayden: Yeah.
Kat: We don’t like to use the word, “fight.”
Gordon: Cause me and my girlfriend will fight.
Hayden: She doesn’t like to use the word.
Gordon: You’re having pleasant disagreements.
Hayden: That’s a good way to put it!
Kat: “Misunderstandings” is what I like to call them.
Gordon: So, you were right and he misunderstood.
Hayden: (Laughs)
Kat: Hayden will say, “I don’t like to argue” and I’ll say, “No, no, no, babe. We were having a misunderstanding. That’s not me.” And he’ll say, “You hung up on me three times.” And I’ll say, “That wasn’t me.”
Gordon and Hayden: (Laugh)
Kat: “That was somebody else.” It’s different for me. Everybody really adores Hayden and he’s won a show before. So, there’s a rivalry. We’ll have a tiff over volleyball or dodgeball. And then normal girlfriend/boyfriend stuff. You start dating and you pull the skeletons out of the closet.
Hayden: And to make matters a little worse, I live in Texas.
Kat: And I live in Florida.
Hayden: But we’re lucky because we do get to see each other every two weeks or so. We’re racking up frequent-flyer miles.

Gordon: As a returnee, you don’t have a clean slate. What do you think people think of you, and how can you use that to your advantage?
Kat: Going into this game, I think people are going to trust me as much as they did before. “One World” wasn’t me putting on a front. That was me being who I am. I’m friendly, I’m charming, that’s just who I am. The only thing that I learned was not to be so selfish, don’t talk over people, listen more. Those things I did not know at that time. I didn’t think I was selfish at all, but I was the most selfish person in the world.
Gordon: It’s different to be told something about yourself, then to watch it on TV.
Kat: Yeah! It’s incredible. Going back into the game knowing all you know now, and you got so far before? If you do the same thing and keep it cool and casual, I know the game. I think I will win.

Gordon: This is the first time pairs are heading into this game. What’s the gameplan?
Kat: Here’s my thought; we have a different type of option than anyone else. Now, I’m going to give you this information, but we will kill you if you say anything.
Gordon: You think I would betray the Power Rankings bond that we have?
Kat: I’m just saying…
Hayden: She is going to slit your throat.
Kat: You don’t mess with my men or my money and now I’m playing for both.
Gordon: I wouldn’t dream of doing either.
Kat: (Laughs)  Here’s what I’m thinking of doing; if we’re in a situation where Hayden might have to go to the left and I have to go to the right. Of all the people here, we’re not married, we’re not family, so technically, if I want to make the tribe feel like I’m flipping on Hayden, I can, and I’m allowed to. Let’s say I’ve done something wrong and Hayden’s upset with me, he can tell people he’s not on my side because we’re not obligated to each other.
Hayden: It’s just an option we’re keeping open. We know where our loyalties lie.
Kat: He can bat his eyes at the older women that aren’t married, which is both the women here. And I could bat my eyes another way. We could play those roles if we have to.

Gordon: What are your early thoughts on the cast?
Kat: It’s so tough. Just by looking at the people, it was Rupert’s time like a year ago. He cannot be here anymore. I think everyone feels that way. There are winners here, but Hayden might want to keep them around because he’s in the winner’s circle. I like Tina and I like Aras. People I’d want to keep around because they could be an explosive atomic bomb are Brad and Monica. Could you imagine if I knocked over Monica in front of him?
Gordon: That’d be a bad scene.
Kat: He would clothesline the (expletive deleted) out of me and make me pay.
Gordon and Hayden: (Laugh)
Gordon: For the record, I’m not laughing because you were clotheslined, it was the way you worded it.
Kat: I’m just saying, I want to keep Colton around as long as possible. On his season of “Big Brother” her name was Rachel (Reilly) and she had red hair and she was just out of control…
Gordon: She’s the one with the…
Kat: The big boobs? Yeah, she’s Big Boobs McGee.
Gordon: I was going to say “laugh.”
Hayden: (Laughs) She was a trainwreck. Think of it like a fishtank. You’ve got a lot of small fish and one big fish. The big fish draws your eye. That’s how I want to play the game. Keep Brad in.
Kat: Keep Brad in, keep Colton in. Laura’s a swing with her daughter. They’ll go either way. Tina and Aras can be swings. Tyson…who knows, he played with Rupert.

Gordon: And the pink hoodie is going to make a return?
Kat: The pink hoodie is in full effect. We actual have double…
Hayden: Matching pink hoodies!

Note: At this point Hayden and Kat perform a synchronized fist bump routine.

Gordon: Oh man, young love. You guys make me sick.
Hayden: (Laughs) We’re going to make a lot of people sick.
