May 24, 2023
“Survivor 44” (CBS)

Welcome to MoreWhatnot.com, my personal blog where I’ll be posting “Survivor” episode recaps all season long. For exit interviews with all of the final five be sure to check out my YouTube channel on Thursday!

Last Week: Lauren’s win kept her off the block, Heidi’s wasted idol was a shock, and Jaime took the lonely walk.

39 26 Days, 18 People, 1 “Survivor” Blog

Let’s take a look at the tribe as it currently stands…

The Va Va Tribe (wearing black)

  • Carolyn, 35 – Drug Counselor
  • Carson, 20 – NASA Engineering Student
  • Heidi, 43 – Engineering Manager
  • Lauren, 31 – Elementary School Teacher
  • Yam Yam, 36 – Salon Owner

Post-Tribal Shenanigans

Our quintet is taken to their new beach where Carolyn makes them all feel at home by screaming her head off.

Once things settle down, Heidi tells everyone about her idol. Carolyn isn’t surprised that Heidi wouldn’t tell them about her advantage. This also tips everyone off that there’s probably another idol out there.

The following morning, everyone goes on a little idol hunt. The idol is tied up in a tree and the camera crew delights in filming people walking right by it.

During the hunt, Lauren is also doing her best to throw Carson under the bus…or into the fire…

Immunity Challenge Time: The players will race through a giant three-level obstacle while collecting keys. Once they have the keys they’ll unlock a chest that gives them a rope that allows them to unleash a ladder. They’ll climb the ladder and be faced with a puzzle. The first person to complete the puzzle wins immunity. They’ll also get a trip to the Sanctuary for lunch.

Quick Aside: That puzzle looks awfully 3D printable…

Another Quick Aside: As Probst is listing the food available at the Sanctuary, they all flip out over carrot cake. Carrot cake? I can’t support any of these people to win.

Result: The 3D printer wins! He’s allowed to take one person with him and he chooses Yam Yam.

Pre-Tribal Politicking

The fellas debate the next step at their pasta dinner date. Yam Yam is pushing for Carolyn mainly because of the antics she pulled with the Tika idol.

However, Carson is worried that the Tika three will have trouble against anyone other than each other. He believes the jury will appreciate an underdog story.

Back at camp, Heidi starts needling Carolyn about why Yam Yam was taken on the reward.

Also, Lauren lets Carolyn know that Yam Yam was throwing her name around before the last vote.

When the guys return, Yam Yam is very nervous because he feels a tremor in the force. And Carolyn is giving both of the guys the newbie jeebies.

Tribal Time

Lauren makes an interesting point that she thinks she’s on her way out of the game, but nobody is talking to her hoping to get on her good side for her jury vote.

This shocks Carolyn because she feels like they talked a lot.

Carson is very nervous because Lauren never approached him. So, maybe she’s putting on a facade?

Lauren gets very emotional when discussing how well she has done in the game. This is very touching, but she’s giving people a ton of reasons to send her to the jury.

Voting Time: Lauren votes for Yam Yam, Carson votes for Lauren, and the rest of the votes are secret.

JPro tallies and returns. He asks if anyone wants to play an idol or an advantage and…Lauren pretends like she has one. Adorable.

We’ve got one vote for Yam Yam, one vote for Lauren, one vote for Heidi, one vote for Lauren, and the fourteenth person eliminated from “Survivor 44” is…Lauren.

Immunity Challenge Time: It’s the ol’ Fishbach Breaker! The players will put a ball in a metal ramp structure, they’ll catch it at the bottom, and then pop it back into the top. As time goes on they’ll add more balls. Last person with all of their balls in motion will get to choose who has to make fire.

Result: It comes down to Heidi vs. Carson with Heidi picking up her first individual immunity win of the season!

Whoa…as Jeff is wrapping things up, he says that she’ll get to decide which of the other three players will have to make fire. Heidi corrects Jeff, saying that she herself could step down and make fire.

Pre-Tribal Politicking

The group is met by four fire-making kits. That’s very convenient.

Carson is very stressed out because he was able to make fire at home, but hasn’t been able to make it happen on the island.

Yam Yam, on the other hand, is very intrigued by the idea of making fire. He thinks a win could put him over the top with the jury. Carolyn is in the same boat. She likes the idea of struggling at all of the challenges during the season and then winning one in the end.

Later, Yam Yam gives Carson some pointers, which is amazing because they could be squaring off against each other. This whole moment speaks very well of Yam Yam.

Heidi’s got some mad fire skills too. And, she appreciates that her possible opponents are pretty good.

Tribal Time

Oh boy, Probst calls out Heidi for thinking about stepping down to compete. Well, now she has to, doesn’t she?

Carson downplays his ability to make fire, and again hits home the point that Heidi should step down.

OK, Heidi decides to take Carolyn to the final three.

Heidi then reveals that Carson will be making fire.

And finally, Heidi reveals that she is going to step down to take on Carson. Good for her. Absolutely puts her in the best possible position to win.

Fire-Making Challenge: The two combatants will each build a fire. The first person to burn through a rope that is tied across the top of their station will be the last member of the final three.

Result: The prophecy came true! Carson lost at fire! Wow, and Probst says that Heidi’s fire was the fastest in the history of the show. Heidi vs. Gabler! Book it!

And Then There Were Three

Kane is very impressed with how well Yam Yam is able to read body language.  Matt liked how he straddled alliances. And, Brandon thought Yam Yam was hilarious and everything he did was very calculated.

Carson was very impressed that Heidi stepped down to make fire. Matt agrees, saying that Heidi took out the king in Carson. And, Jaime says Heidi will get her vote if she can explain how she kept herself safe through every Tribal.

Frannie thinks Carolyn used her emotions to her advantage. Lauren was impressed with how Carolyn was so authentically herself. And, Jaime thinks Carolyn threw everybody off and knew what she was doing the entire time.

We also get the perfect bookend for Carolyn where she speaks to the producer who interviewed her during the very first shot of the season. She’s blown away that she made it to the end, she didn’t even think she’d make the merge.

Tribal Time

Kane starts things off, by saying that every vote is up in the air. He then asks the players what they think the jury’s perceptions of them are, and are those impressions accurate?

Yam Yam thinks they see him as a happy-go-lucky person, which is true. But he thinks the misperception is that he followed Carson. He claims that they were both making decisions.

Heidi interrupts him, saying they were riding Soka’s coattails. Yam Yam tells her that that is what they wanted them to believe, and that Yam Yam knew everybody’s vote at every Tribal. Carson is nodding along with this.

Heidi thinks the perception of her varied throughout the game. At first she seemed strategic, but then when she lost numbers she was just playing under the radar. She disagrees, saying she was always making moves.

Carolyn and Carson made an alliance on day one and she and Yam Yam are both so similar that she was shocked they were on the same tribe. She knows people were underestimating her.

Carson loved how Carolyn and Yam Yam evolved. But, he didn’t play with Heidi that long, so he asks about her relationships.

Heidi says Soka had targets on their backs at the merge, but she was able to make it through.

Yam Yam counters that Tika took advantage of the fact that the other players thought they were saving Tika.

Heidi responds that Carson is going to defend Yam Yam and Carolyn because he made the same moves.

Danny wants to know how they used Carson. Yam Yam admits that he used Carson to get information. But, he used a lot of the jury to get information. He also says that he used Carson to go on a reward.

Danny also wants to know who Heidi used to get forward and she smartly says she used him. (That was obviously what he was digging for.)

Frannie asks how they used their emotions to propel their game. And Carolyn burst into flames.

Just kidding.

Carolyn tells the jury that when you’re an addict you hold in your emotions. And when she holds in her emotions today, she finds it painful.

Yam Yam found it frustrating how people would be very blank when they’d talk to him. So, he’d build real relationships with them so he could learn their tells so he could figure out when they were telling the truth. Wowwww…

It was very important to Heidi to represent people that look and sound different. It was important to be a representation of a woman in the science field. So, she’s tried to control her emotions so she can be a great example.

Matt is very impressed with all of their abilities to be themselves which is challenging for him.

Frannie wants to know how everyone thought they would do in the challenges. Carolyn hilariously thought she would do great, and it broke her heart when her letter from home featured her son hoping she was winning challenges.

Heidi thinks her immunity and fire-making wins put her in the best position to be the sole Survivor. She also gets in a nice dig that she wanted to eliminate Carson because he was making all of the decisions for Tika.

And, Carson mentions that she made the fastest fire in the history of “Survivor” for like the 30th time. He really likes that fun fact.

Oh, then she points out that a vote for her will make history because it will make her the oldest female winner ever.

Yam Yam didn’t think he’d do particularly well in the challenges, which is frustrating because his family is very physical. He then makes the point that he’d be the first Puerto Rican male to win “Survivor.”

Carolyn and Yam Yam get into it a bit over Carolyn’s idol move, with Yam Yam pointing out that if she trusted him, she wouldn’t have played it. Carolyn makes an excellent counter, saying that she trusted Yam Yam, but not playing it would have meant she trusted Jaime and Lauren too. And, she needed Carson around because she needed Danny to go.

Danny picks up on this specific comment and asks why it was so important for him to leave. She says that he was seemingly running things at the time.

Carson does a little work for Yam Yam, pointing out that he was on the right side of the vote 90% of the time. This allows Yam Yam to discuss how he voted out everybody who voted for him. And also how he used his wits and his personality to progress in the game.

And finally, Heidi discusses how she ended up without an alliance and had to adapt, whereas the Tikas were able to work together.

Voting Time: No votes are shown. Uh oh…

JPro tallies and returns. We’ve got one vote for Heidi, four votes for Yam Yam, and the winner of “Survivor 44” is…Yam Yam!

The only person who voted for Heidi was Danny. Not surprising.

Verdict: I can’t complain about that winner. Yam Yam was in the thick of everything, he was likable, personable, clever, charismatic, you name it. Hell of a cast, too.

I’m just not sure what this season’s trademark moments are going to be. Are there any? Is this a case of a great cast giving us a mediocre season?

That being said, the numbered seasons are really starting to blend together to me. Same challenges, same twists, three tribes, etc.

Power Rankings Result: “Survivor 43” Finalist Owen Knight had two people in the right place for four points, while I had three people in the right place for six points. So, the final score is Team Holmes 84, Team Knight 98.

Last Week: (Haiku form)

Tika in control

Idol played for no reason

Deniro went home

39 26 Days, 18 People, 1 “Survivor” Blog

Let’s take a look at the tribe as it currently stands…

The Va Va Tribe (wearing black)

  • Carolyn, 35 – Drug Counselor
  • Carson, 20 – NASA Engineering Student
  • Heidi, 29 – Engineering Manager
  • Jaime, 35 – Yogi
  • Lauren, 31 – Elementary School Teacher
  • Yam Yam, 36 – Salon Owner

Post-Tribal Shenanigans

We start things off with a thorough explanation of why Jaime and Lauren didn’t vote against Tika. Just kidding. Why would we want to know that?

Everybody is sooper impressed by Carolyn’s idol move, even though she herself admits that it wasn’t necessary. I agree, but there is something to be said for holding an idol in secret for so long.

Right, Heidi?

However, now that the cat is out of the bag, Carolyn is telling everyone about finding the idol, the red “X,” Sarah finding the fake…and her threat level is creeping up. (Or, “Win equity” as Owen Knight taught me.)

The next morning, Carson catches Heidi sneaking off for an idol hunt. This encourages everyone to take a trip into the woods. But, they all end up empty handed.

Later on, it looks like Carson and Yam Yam are working with Lauren and Jaime, with Lauren having no problem throwing out Carolyn’s name for the next vote. Soooo, has this little foursome been working together already? Is that why Lauren and Jaime haven’t been targeting Tika? Because I’d have loved to have known that.

Carson lets us know that they have been working together, but a Ratu member is going home next.

Reward Challenge: The tribe will be divided into the two teams of three. Two blindfolded members will push one person in a giant ball (think Russell Swan’s worst nightmare) through an obstacle course. At the end of the course is a table maze. The person in the ball will have to instruct his partners to complete it. The winning team will receive a trip to the Sanctuary for massages and lunch.

Teams: Jaime is in the ball with Heidi and Carolyn vs. Carson in the ball with Yam Yam and Lauren.

Result: Not even close. Carson, Yam Yam, and Lauren are going to the Sanctuary.

At the Sanctuary

The trio is treated to a foot massage, which is my worst nightmare. I’m in the George Costanza camp where I feel guilty in massage situations.

Strategy is briefly discussed with Carolyn being the main focus. Carson lets us know that he’s lying to keep Lauren off of their scent, but Yam Yam seems to be seriously considering it.

Jaime’s Got a Pitch

Back at camp, Jaime’s taking the time to point out how difficult Carson will be to defeat in front of a jury. Carolyn nods and plays along, but she keeps telling us she can’t lose Carson yet. I feel like that’s the second time she’s said, “Yet.” I love her long-term planning.

Heidi is a woman on her own, but the final three she wants to work toward is with Yam Yam and Carolyn.

I’d certainly love to know why she doesn’t want to work with Lauren and Jaime. She says it’s because they voted for her, but in a way everyone voted against her last week.

The Sanctuary crew returns and Carolyn asks Yam Yam to burp in her nose. And he does.

That might be it. It might be time for me to cover a different show.

With that unpleasantness over, Yam Yam and Jaime have a serious talk about targeting Carolyn next. And, as much as I’d hate to see her go, Yam Yam needs a different story than, “I was one of the Tika Three.”

Immunity Challenge Time: The players will use two ropes to balance a ball on a disc. At different intervals, they’ll step further back. Last person standing win immunity.

Result: Lauren wins immunity.

Pre-Tribal Politicking

Heidi is considering working with Tika to target Jaime, which would allow her to hang onto her idol. But, she’s been lied to before.

Meanwhile, Jaime and Lauren are pushing Yam Yam to get rid of Carolyn.

Carson and Yam Yam discuss this plan, with Yam Yam making the point that Carolyn is super good at making fire. Good to know.

Tribal Time

The tribe brought everything from camp to Tribal for fear of being sent to another camp. That’s hilarious.

And it’s downhill from there. I’m so bored by Tribal these days.

Voting Time: No votes are shown. Although Yam Yam and Carolyn shared an odd look.

JPro tallies and returns. He asks if anyone has an idol or an advantage they’d like to play and…Heidi plays her idol for herself.

Alright, we’ve got one vote for Carolyn, one vote for Jaime, one vote for Carolyn, two votes for Jaime, and the thirteenth person eliminated from “Survivor 44” is…Jaime.

And they were right! The tribe is going to be taken to a new beach. Take that, production!

Verdict: Not a surprising elimination. It felt like Jaime or Lauren was going home if they couldn’t partner up with Heidi and her idol. And, I will continue to express my frustration with alliances that exist that we don’t learn about after the fact.

That’s why Gabler was such a disappointing winner. We didn’t get to see everything he was up to.

So, what if Lauren or Heidi pull this off? Wouldn’t that be a downer? We’ve seen next to none of their games.

Power Rankings Result: “Survivor 43” Finalist Owen Knight called it with Jaime in spot six while I had her in spot five. So, the current score is Team Holmes 78, Team Knight 94. Check out my YouTube channel for the full episodes!

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is a.jpgCarson – I know we all think Carson is destined to lose the fire-making at final four due to the many shots of him looking at fire, but up until this point, nobody has run more alliances, had more conversations, or garnered as much trust as the Rocket Man. He may not win, but he played a great game.
This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is a-.jpgCarolyn – You really didn’t need to tell everyone about the X and the fake idol. Other than that, you’re doing great.
Yam Yam – I think Yam Yam can beat Carson or Carolyn, honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if any of that trio wins over the others. However, I do feel like he needs a moment to hang his hat on.
This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is b.jpgLauren – Congrats on the immunity win, but I really don’t see how you win this thing. Tika making it to the end is a much better story than anything anyone else has done.
This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is c.jpgHeidi – You’re not down here because of the idol play, although that didn’t help you much. It’s that I have no idea who you can beat in a final three.

“Survivor 44” Episode 11 Recap – Circle of Trust

May 10, 2023
“Survivor 44” (CBS)

Welcome to MoreWhatnot.com, my personal blog where I’ll be posting “Survivor” episode recaps all season long. For exit interviews with all of the eliminated players and the RETURN of the “Survivor” Power Rankings with Owen Knight, be sure to check out my YouTube channel!

Last Week: Jaime was burned for keeping it true, Carson’s 3-D printer told him what to do, and Frannie was sent to be with her boo.

39 26 Days, 18 People, 1 “Survivor” Blog

Let’s take a look at the tribe as it currently stands…

The Va Va Tribe (wearing black)

  • Carolyn, 35 – Drug Counselor
  • Carson, 20 – NASA Engineering Student
  • Danny 32 – Firefighter
  • Heidi, 29 – Engineering Manager
  • Jaime, 35 – Yogi
  • Lauren, 31 – Elementary School Teacher
  • Yam Yam, 36 – Salon Owner

Post-Tribal Shenanigans

Carolyn is on fire! Stooge-splosion! Carson and Yam Yam try to talk her down, but she just isn’t having it.

In other news, Danny is trying to figure out who else voted for him. Heidi claims it was Frannie, but we who have access to last week’s epilogue know better.

Apparently Yam Yam knows this too, as he spills the beans to Danny. But, Danny doesn’t buy it. Thus, putting a target on Yam Yam’s back.

This is the season of no good deed going unpunished. How many people have been dinged for telling the truth?

I’d be so impressed if they could just convince Danny that he voted for himself.

The following morning, Jaime hosts a little sharing circle. New “Survivor” everybody! What would Randy Bailey think about this?

We’re also treated to Heidi’s story. Heidi is an electrical engineer…just like my dad!

Um…then we get a long segment of Carolyn swimming with lobster parts. Maybe we don’t need 90-minute episodes.

Trouble for Tika

Carolyn eventually comes around and claims to trust Carson and Yam Yam again. Not enough to tell Yam Yam about her idol though.

As Yam Yam and Carolyn discuss their dream final three (Yam Yam’s is himself three times) the rest of the tribe is coming to the realization that the former Tikas are running the show.

Welcome to two episodes ago.

Immunity Challenge Time: The players will float underneath a grate. As the water rises, they’ll have less time to catch their breath. The last person under the grate wins immunity.

Result: It comes down to Heidi and Yam Yam with Yam Yam pulling off the win!

Pre-Tribal Politicking

Tika is super psyched to be on the verge of taking control of the game, but the rest of the group has no problem getting rid of Carson to stop that from happening.

The plan is to tell Tika that they’re splitting the vote between Jaime and Lauren.

It’s interesting that nobody seems worried about going to the end with Carolyn. In fact, they seem more worried about how she’s going to react after another blindside when they get back to camp.

Carolyn sniffs out the plan though. She tries to get Danny to admit to it, but he sticks to his guns.

Carson pitches a counter-plan to Jaime and Lauren to split the vote between Danny and Heidi.

Carolyn is determined to keep Carson around, so she tells him about the Tika idol. Her big concern is if Danny plays an idol for himself. So, maybe they should vote for Heidi.

(That sound you’re hearing, coming from eastern Pennsylvania, is me laughing.)

Tribal Time

Nothing super interesting happens other than Danny telling Carolyn that “Comparison is a thief of joy” during a weird conversation. That’s some bumper sticker material there.

We also have some fun as Carolyn tells Probst that he’s annoying her. Good times.

Voting Time: No votes are shown, but we get a montage of Carolyn counting her fingers.

JPro tallies and returns. He asks if anyone wants to play an idol or an advantage and…Carolyn plays her idol for Carson.

Alright, we’ve got two votes for Carson, two votes for Danny, two votes for Heidi, and the twelfth person eliminated from “Survivor 44” is…Danny.

And Danny makes sure to give Jeff his best Robert DeNiro impersonation as his torch is snuffed. Because…of course.

Verdict: So…no reason for Jaime and Lauren working with Tika? I hate leaving too much out of the edit in order to get a surprise result. New “Survivor” is really turning me off with that.

Also, I know they’re acting like Tika is running the show now, but that isn’t the case as long as Heidi has an idol.

That being said, they haven’t made much of a case for Lauren, Jaime, or Heidi winning the whole game.

Buuut…you could make the same argument for Gabler last season. So, what do I know?

Power Rankings Result: “Survivor 43” Finalist Owen Knight had Danny in spot six while I had him in spot four. So, the current score is Team Holmes 73, Team Knight 88. Check out my YouTube channel for the full episodes!

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is a.jpgCarolyn – If you’re a threat to win, then why isn’t your name coming up? That’ll probably change after your idol move. Even though it really didn’t matter because you already had the votes. And, you still have two big jury threats by your side. What’s your story? I feel like all three of the Tika members can win. Is that a horrible end-game strategy? I’m lost. I’m gonna go lie down.
This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is a-.jpgYam Yam and Carson – You fellas are just a step down because Carolyn deserves her flowers this week. (That’s a thing the kids say, right?)
This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is b-.jpgLauren and Jaime – Tika’s story is so strong, the only way I can see this duo or Heidi winning is if they get there as a unit.
This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is c.jpgHeidi – It’s probably not great when the best thing you can say about a person is; she didn’t burn her idol.

“Survivor 44” Episode 10 Recap – Something to Taco Bout

May 3, 2023
“Survivor 44” (CBS)

Welcome to MoreWhatnot.com, my personal blog where I’ll be posting “Survivor” episode recaps all season long. For exit interviews with all of the eliminated players and the RETURN of the “Survivor” Power Rankings with Owen Knight, be sure to check out my YouTube channel!

Last Week: Four sat out for rice’s sake, immunity was there for Frannie to take, and Kane went home with an idol that was fake.

39 26 Days, 18 People, 1 “Survivor” Blog

Let’s take a look at the tribe as it currently stands…

The Va Va Tribe (wearing black)

  • Carolyn, 35 – Drug Counselor
  • Carson, 20 – NASA Engineering Student
  • Danny 32 – Firefighter
  • Frannie, 23 – Research Manager
  • Heidi, 29 – Engineering Manager
  • Jaime, 35 – Yogi
  • Lauren, 31 – Elementary School Teacher
  • Yam Yam, 36 – Salon Owner

Post-Tribal Shenanigans

Frannie is in shock as she didn’t know about the plan to vote out Kane. She tells everyone that she would have been up for it. But now she feels like she can’t trust anyone. Well, that’s Survivor 101 there.

Lauren is in the same boat and she’s a bit concerned that the Ratu numbers are dwindling.

Carson takes Jaime aside and explains that Kane had told him about her “idol.” Jaime hilariously responds, “That makes me not trust him.” Well, that ship has sailed.

In truth Carson was the one who told everyone about Jaime’s idol. He then explains how he loves telling lies about people who can’t defend themselves. Well, fortunately those people don’t vote for who wins in the end.

Oh wait…

And in more bad news for Jaime, nobody knows that she gave Kane her “idol,” so the target is still on her back.

Reward Challenge Time: Players will spin on a contraption to retrieve some balls, they’ll then carry them across some balance-oriented beams. Finally they’ll toss the balls onto a totally different beam. The first person to complete the feat will win an overnight trip to Sanctuary for tacos and margaritas. The person will also receive a letter from home.

Quick Aside: As with all spinning challenges, spin slow. You’ll have time to catch up and you won’t be dizzy.

Result: The Franamaniac does it again! She’s allowed to choose three people to join her, and she goes with Carolyn, Lauren, and Heidi.

Taco Tuesday

Carolyn makes it a point to let everyone know that she’s cool with them drinking margaritas in front of her, which is a nice moment. I know I always get so mad at myself when I forget and drink in front of someone who is on the wagon.

And, all of the moms show appreciation to Frannie for bringing them along.

When the letters come out, Lauren shares her story about her divorce, working two jobs, and eventually getting her Master’s degree.

During the meal, Carolyn puts it right out there saying that she wants to vote out Danny. Lauren is obviously on board, but Heidi and Frannie are less willing to commit.

The Bitter Barn

Yam Yam is not pleased that he was left out of the Sanctuary crew. He makes the point that “Everybody has family.” Yeah buddy, and there were three spots. Are you even close with Frannie?

We even get a video package of all the people that Yam Yam wanted to hear from. I like Yam Yam, but I don’t have a ton of sympathy for this. Win the challenge, buddy.

Later on, Yam Yam’s mood toward Frannie creeps to everyone who was left behind. Especially the fact that she’s won three individual challenges.

During the discussion, Jaime admits that she had an idol, but it went home in Kane’s pocket. And just as I predicted; DANNY DOESN’T BELIEVE IT!

In fact, Carson says this puts Jaime more on his radar.

The Next Morning

When Frannie’s foursome returns, Jaime tells them about what happened to her idol. Aaand…nobody believes it.

Immunity Challenge Time: The players’ feet will be tied together, their arms will be tied to their sides. They’ll slither through a course while they carry a buoy in their mouth. From there, they’ll maneuver the buoy through an obstacle, then race to complete a star puzzle. The first person to complete the puzzle wins immunity.

Result: Carson win immunity. Thank you, 3-D printer!

Pre-Tribal Politicking

Carson, Frannie, Heidi, and others are bouncing around the idea of splitting the vote between the final two Rotu members, then voting out Jaime if there’s a tie.

However, Danny is ready to get rid of Frannie. He makes the very good point that nobody should want to sit with her at final three. She’s likable, good at challenges, and her boyfriend is on the jury. Slam dunk in my book.

Carson and Yam Yam talk it out, and Carson is very worried that Frannie could become Carolyn’s number one. Yam Yam smartly brings up the point that Carolyn does not react well when she’s left out of a plan. Although, now that I think about it…most people wouldn’t.

Danny tells Heidi the plan to get rid of Frannie, even making the point that they don’t need Heidi’s vote to make it happen. So, she tells Carolyn and Carson about this plan. In the moment of the evening, Carson gives an incredulous, “What?!”

Carolyn puts two and two together and gets apple.

Just kidding, she realizes that she’s being left out of the vote. She works with Frannie, Jaime, and Lauren to figure out what’s going on. Their theory is that Heidi is in on it and lying to them, so they decide to vote for Heidi.

Carolyn breaks the news to Carson and…yikes.

Tribal Time

Danny makes the point that you want to be one of the great players like Rob, Parvati, or Jeremy. I agree, Rob Cesternino is great.

Then, Jeff tries to make “Fetch” happen again with “Full Tilt Boogie.”

Jaime reiterates that Kane has her idol and as she says it everyone tries to read Kane’s face. It seems like he didn’t react at all.

Voting Time

No votes are shown.

JPro tallies and returns. He asks if anyone wants to play an idol or an advantage and…nobody does. We’ve got one vote for Frannie, one vote for Danny, two votes for Heidi, two votes for Frannie, and the eleventh person voted out of “Survivor 44” is Frannie.

Verdict: Huh…so Heidi voted for Danny and Carolyn voted for Heidi. Weird.

Honestly, as much as I loved Frannie, she had to goooo. A smart, friendly, challenge beast with a likable boyfriend on the jury? Buh bye.

Power Rankings Result: “Survivor 43” Finalist Owen Knight and I both had Frannie in spot six. So, the current score is Team Holmes 69, Team Knight 82. Check out my YouTube channel for the full episodes!

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is a.jpgDanny – Seems like a whole mess is gonna come out of this vote and most of it won’t be directed at Danny. (And are we going to ignore that Danny saved Frannie with an idol earlier?)
This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is a-.jpgLauren and Jaime – Jaime’s idol story went from the hottest story to a non-story. They should have a ton of room to make moves next week.
This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is b-.jpgCarolyn – Well, it’s never good when you’re not in on the vote. The question is; do you blow up the Three Stooges alliance? And if so, is it for revenge or because you probably can’t beat Carson at final three?
Yam Yam and Carson – I do think getting rid of Frannie was the right move. And I don’t think you know about Carolyn’s idol. So, maybe you didn’t appreciate how dangerous she can be.
This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is c.jpgHeidi – Safe to say the Danny/Heidi alliance is officially dead. She probably gonna need that idol soon.
