TV Tapas: ‘Donald Trump’ Finally Picks a Running Mate

June 23, 2016
Fallon's 'Donald Trump' Picks a Running Mate ('The Tonight Show')

Fallon’s ‘Donald Trump’ Picks a Running Mate (‘The Tonight Show’)

Random Thoughts…

  • Finally got around to watching the premiere of TBS’s comedy “Wrecked” last night. I dug the “Lost” vibe, but the jokes weren’t landing for me. (No pun intended) I’ll give it another shot.
  • If I was Tom Brady, I would have phoned into last night’s Ben Affleck/Bill Simmons love fest on “Any Given Wednesday” and asked them to cool it a bit. That, or I would’ve swam in my money.
  • Last night’s rocket challenge on “Big Brother” was a little…inappropriate…for younger viewers.

  • Spent all last night saying, “C’mon Simon, hit that golden button!”
  • I’m not sure I can wait until this fall for Kiefer Sutherland’s new show “Designated Survivor.”

James Corden Is Not a Fan of Roller Coasters (‘The Late Late Show’)

Random Thoughts…

  • “American Ninja Warrior” got a little too real last night when we learned that Kacy and her boyfriend had broken up. What’s worse is I really wanted to know why.
  • “The Bachelorette” is crazy now, right? It looked like last night’s bro-down was about to turn into a bro-brawl.
  • Seriously James Corden, who do I have to talk to in order to get a Sting “Carpool Karaoke”?

TV Tapas: News Anchor’s Story Is Too Good to Be True

June 20, 2016
News Anchor's Story Is Too Good to Be Tr)ue ("The Tonight Show"

News Anchor’s Story Is Too Good to Be Tr)ue (“The Tonight Show”

Random Thoughts…

  • Here was how I watched TV on Sunday night. I tuned into WWE’s “Money in the Bank” Pay Per View from 8p-9p. Then I switched over and watched “Game of Thrones” until 10p. From there I switched over to ABC to catch the end of the NBA Championship. After that I watched the rest of the WWE Pay Per View. Finally, I watched “Silicon Valley” and “Veep.” It was a big night.
  • Speaking of “Game of Thrones,” (Spoiler Alert): How weird was it to see a villain get actual comeuppance from a person they wronged?
  • Sorry “ELeague,” I’m not ready to watch video games on TV yet.
  • The wife and I caught “Finding Dory” this weekend. I swear Pixar just exists to make me cry.

XFINITY Binge-Watching Guide: Here Are Our Picks, What Are Yours?

June 17, 2016

You know the deal; every week I give you my picks for shows that you should binge-watch and you promptly run off to watch them. Well…that’s what I assume you do.

But why do I have all of the power in this relationship? Seems arrogant. So, this week I want you to leave me your picks for shows that are binge-worthy in our new comment section.

MrRobot GameofThrones
 1. – “Mr. Robot”:  My wife and I are trying to plow through season one of this before it returns on July 13th.
 2. – “Game of Thrones”How is this season already so close to its finale? HBO should be forced to commit to 52-week seasons.
BarelyFamous SiliconValley
   3. – “Barely Famous”:  Season 2 of this under-the-radar comedy gem premieres June 29th.
 4. – “Silicon Valley”: The third season of this HBO comedy hasn’t been my favorite, but it’s still worth a watch before next Sunday’s finale.
TheDetour Veep
  5. – “The Detour”: One of our favorite new shows this year. And “The Restaurant” episode is an instant classic.  6. – “Veep”: Are we ready to have the conversation about Julia Louis-Dreyfus being one of the funniest television actors of all time yet? I’d put “Seinfeld” and “Veep” against anyone’s resume.

Random Thoughts…

  • Started “O.J.: Made in America” last night and it totally lives up to the hype. Very well done.
  • I’m not sure how I feel about Seth Meyers’ Donald Trump ban, but at least he admits that Trump probably wasn’t interested in appearing on his show in the first place.
  • I’m worried sick about this Sunday’s “Game of Thrones.” C’mon Jon!
  • My wife and I have chosen “Mr. Robot” for our first summer binge. What are you binge watching? Let me know in the comments section below.
