XFINITY Binge-Watching Guide: Beat-the-Heat Edition

I don’t know if everyone knows this, but your weekly binge-watching list originates from the City of Brotherly Love…Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. And if you’ll check your favorite weather site, you’ll learn that we’re facing temperatures in the high 9os this weekend.

That’s no good.

I intend on spending my weekend indoors, getting better acquainted with my air conditioning, and catching up on some of these top titles…


1. –“Game of Thrones”: Are you already caught up on this epic series? Watch it again. I picked up so much when I did a rewatch.	2. – “Entourage”: I always compare “Ballers” to “Entourage,” but I hadn’t seen an episode of “Entourage” recently. So, with “Ballers” coming back, I wanted to see if the comparison was valid. I watching the pilot and got sucked in. I’m in the middle of Season 3 right now.

3. – “Power”: The season premiere was awesome. If you’ve never seen this show, you can plow through the first two season quickly.	4. – “Ray Donovan”: Showtime’s biggest summer title seems to be in the middle of another hot season.

5. – “Odd Mom Out”: – The sophomore slump hasn’t hit this hilarious comedy. And we’ve got every episode online.	6. – “Greenleaf”: Oprah’s new drama is a hit in our office. Every Thursday we get together to talk about the previous night’s episode.

XFINITY Binge-Watching Guide: Emmy Nominations Edition

The Emmy nominations were announced this past Thursday, and for the most part they were right on the mark. The ceremony won’t be held until September 18th, so you have until then to watch every episode of every nominated title.

OK, maybe that’s a little extreme, but here are my picks for the ones you should try to catch up on this weekend.


1. –“Game of Thrones”: Last year’s Outstanding Drama winner is back and some could argue that this season was better than the previous one.	2. – “Veep”: Remember what I just said about “Game of Thrones”? Recycle that comment but replace the word “Drama” with “Comedy.”

3. – “Silicon Valley”: Even after what I consider to be a very uneven season, “Silicon Valley” is still one of the best comedies on TV.	4. – “Ray Donovan”: Liev Schreiber’s Lead Actor in a Drama nod is very well deserved.

5. – “Orphan Black”: – Tatiana Maslany doesn’t just deserve one Emmy, she deserves an Emmy for each role she plays on this amazing series.	6. – “Homeland”: Here’s a show that seemed to level off after a hot start, but it really picked up steam again this season.

XFINITY Binge-Watching Guide: Holiday Weekend Edition

It seems really unsafe to spend your entire holiday running around in the damaging sun. For your health, you should find some time to stay indoors and check out full seasons of these popular shows.


1. – “Preacher”: AMC just picked up this creepy hit for a second season, so you don’t have to worry about getting addicted and having it vanish.	2. – “Game of Thrones”: The last two episodes of season six were just amazing. I need to go back and watch it all.

3. – “Odd Mom Out”: You can find every episode (including one that hasn’t aired yet) online.	4. – “Silicon Valley”: The third season was rough, but it redeemed itself with a cool twist in the finale.

5. – “The Bachelorette”: This season has been insane. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was really just a psychological experiment to see how long JoJo can go without snapping.	6. – “Power”: Season one of this intense Starz fave is available for free for a limited time. Check it out!

XFINITY Binge-Watching Guide: HBO Favorites Wrapping Up

“A Lannister always pays his debts,” is one of “Game of Thrones” most popular sayings. And now that we’ve enjoyed the epic awesomeness of Season 6, we too must pay with 42 weeks of a “Game of Thrones”-free existence.

…sigh…

Sorry, I’m not dealing with the upcoming season finale very well.

Fortunately, there’s still tons of TV to binge-watch this summer. Here are some of our faves…


1. –“Game of Thrones”: One of the biggest and best shows of this generation ends its sixth season on Sunday the 26th. Make sure you’re caught up before the lemon cake hits the fan during the finale.	2. – “Veep”: Who will be the President of the United States when this season’s epic storyline wraps up?

3. – “Silicon Valley”: The season has turned around a little bit after a weird middle. Here’s hoping for a strong finish.	4. – “Ray Donovan”: Showtime’s summer hit returns Sunday the 26th. Catch up on the previous seasons online and watch the season 4 finale early.

5. – “Odd Mom Out”: – Not only do we have all of last season and this season’s premiere, but we also have the next two episodes. What ’em early!	6. – “Outlander”: Why aren’t more people talking about the second season of “Outlander”? I think it’s just as strong as the first.

XFINITY Binge-Watching Guide: Here Are Our Picks, What Are Yours?

You know the deal; every week I give you my picks for shows that you should binge-watch and you promptly run off to watch them. Well…that’s what I assume you do.

But why do I have all of the power in this relationship? Seems arrogant. So, this week I want you to leave me your picks for shows that are binge-worthy in our new comment section.


1. – “Mr. Robot”: My wife and I are trying to plow through season one of this before it returns on July 13th.	2. – “Game of Thrones”: How is this season already so close to its finale? HBO should be forced to commit to 52-week seasons.

3. – “Barely Famous”: Season 2 of this under-the-radar comedy gem premieres June 29th.	4. – “Silicon Valley”: The third season of this HBO comedy hasn’t been my favorite, but it’s still worth a watch before next Sunday’s finale.

5. – “The Detour”: One of our favorite new shows this year. And “The Restaurant” episode is an instant classic.	6. – “Veep”: Are we ready to have the conversation about Julia Louis-Dreyfus being one of the funniest television actors of all time yet? I’d put “Seinfeld” and “Veep” against anyone’s resume.

Seasons are ending, seasons are premiering…the circle of life continues. Fortunately, we’ve got full seasons of top shows ready for your preparation needs.

3. – “Orphan Black”: This mind-bending series ends its fourth season this Thursday. And, we’ve got every episode online.	4. – “House of Lies”: The final episode of Don Cheadle Showtime comedy airs this Sunday. Think you can get through five seasons before then?

5. – “Penny Dreadful”: Catch up on this creepy series before the June 19th finale.	6. – “Game of Thrones”: Everybody is going to be talking about the “Battle of Winterfell.” You don’t want to be a social outcast, do you?

XFINITY Binge-Watching Guide: Memorial Day Edition

Three free days?! Awesome. Yeah, barbecues and walks in the park and tennis and whatever…but that can only fill so much of the next 72 hours. Surely, you can spend some quality time with your couch watching some of these worthwhile shows…

3. – “The Detour”: Everyone in the office loves this rookie comedy from TBS.	4. – “Outlander”: The amazing acting, the lavish costumes, the intricate storylines…this show has so much going for it.

5. – “Nashville”: Oh “Nashville,” we hardly knew ye. Enjoy the end of this under-appreciated fave and hope some network somewhere picks it up.	6. – “The Carmichael Show”: Now here’s a hilarious show that isn’t afraid to tackle big issues.

7. – “The Night Manager”: There are only six episodes in this hit, so you should be able to take care of it in a day. Who needs to go outside?	8. – “Chicago P.D.”: This week’s finale was intense. Check out what lead to that moment by watching the full season.

9. – “Rosewood”: This rookie show finished up its season this week and we have every episode online.	10. – “Game of Thrones”: I’m still not over last Sunday’s shocker. If you’re not into this show…GET INTO THIS SHOW.

XFINITY Binge-Watching Guide: Season Finales Keep Coming

It’s such a bittersweet time of year; our favorite shows are leaving us for the summer, but they’re going out with a bang. Just this week alone we saw jaw-dropping moments from “Empire,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” and “The Blacklist.” So, here’s a look at some shows that are finishing things off soon and a few others that we can’t stop watching.

1. – “Fear the Walking Dead”: This spin-off is finally picking up momentum and building its own identity. Mid-Season Finale Date: May 22	2. – “60 Days In”: I may sound like a broken record, but this look at innocent citizens who go undercover in a real prison is the best new reality show this year. Finale Date: May 26

3. – “Chrisley Knows Best”: This reality comedy is easily the most popular guilty pleasure in the office. Finale Date: Not for a While	4. – “Dancing with the Stars”: Catch up on every single pasodoble before the trophy is handed out. (Wait, can there be a single pasodoble?) Finale Date: May 24

5. – “The Simps0ns”: Every episode of this iconic series is available online. That’s right, all 237 seasons. Finale Date: May 22	6. – “The Voice”: Yeah, we’re missing out on a Christina Aguilera/Whitney Houston hologram duet at the finale, but the rest has been really good. Finale Date: May 24

7. – “The Night Manager”: With only five episodes to catch up on, you can easily run through this excellent series in a day. Finale Date: May 24	8. – “Chicago P.D.”: This season has been an emotional rollercoaster, and I don’t think the finale will be any different. Finale Date: May 25

9. – “Rosewood”: This rookie hit is definitely worth your time, and we have every episode online. Finale Date: May 25	10. – “Game of Thrones”: OK, the finale isn’t for a while, but it’s always a good time for a trip to Westeros. Well, unless you’re invited to a Westeros wedding. Finale Date: Hopefully Never

Random Thoughts…

I literally yelled at my TV last night when “Game of Thrones” decided to not show us all of the Tower of Joy scene.
Brie Larson’s Baby Shower skit on “Saturday Night Live” was gold. Be sure to check it out below.
I didn’t see that “Quantico” twist coming. But the way things are going with the show, I’m not sure if that twist won’t be twisted away.
A rough night for “Once Upon a Time” fans. If you know one, be sure to give them a hug today.
Loving the “Ocean’s Eleven” twist on this season’s “Silicon Valley.” Although, that ending might have been too dumb for such a smart show.

What to Watch Tonight…

‘Dancing with the Stars’ (ABC: 8pm ET) – Last week’s double elimination was rough, and now only six pairs remain.

‘The Detour’ (TBS: 9pm ET) – This show is unlike any other family comedy on TV. Give it a shot.

‘Bates Motel’ (A&E: 9pm ET) – This creepy fave keeps getting better and better.
