Take it from me, life as a hot person is pretty sweet. People are always doing things for you and taking care of you. It’s five-star awesome.

So, imagine how poor Morgan felt when she was singled out and punished by LJ in the first fifteen minutes of the show. Her only crime?  Being hot.

It’s messed up.

I spoke with “Survivor: Cagayan’s” lounging lovely the morning after her elimination and had a chance to ask her about LJ’s early move, her relationship with Chaos Kass, and Alexis’s accusation that she wanted to quit…

Gordon Holmes: I hate to start this off with a question that’s controversial, but this is going to be the elephant in the room until we address it. How awesome was the Outback Steakhouse pineapple/bacon margarita?
Morgan McLeod: (Laughs) Oh man, it was really good. Not that strong, like we all wanted it to be, but it was really great. I was so scared to drink more than one because I had a pretty much empty stomach for over two weeks.
Holmes: Now to be clear, is bacon just on the pineapple on the top or have they somehow integrated bacon into the actual margarita?
McLeod: There was bacon on the little skewer that had the pineapple. But then it had this rim of…it wasn’t normal salt. It was so good.
Holmes: Was it some kind of bacon salt?
McLeod: Maybe, it was like a brownish red color.
Holmes: My goodness.
McLeod: (Laughs) Maybe I can be Outback Steakhouse’s little representative now. If they need me for commercials I’ll be there.
Holmes: And you will take me with you and I will help you drink margaritas.
McLeod: Great! (Laughs)

Holmes: Alright, that show you were on, there was a lot of talk about you having a poor work ethic. That surprised me because you were a professional cheerleader. You don’t get to be a professional cheerleader by being lazy.
McLeod: That’s right.
Holmes: What weren’t we seeing?
McLeod: They said I was lazy and laid around all day, that’s not completely true. I definitely helped out a bit.
Holmes: (Laughs) A bit.
McLeod: I didn’t do as much as LJ or Tony or Jeremiah. They were work horses and they were awesome. They totally supported the camp. I applaud them for that. But for the women to call me lazy, there were definitely some of them laying around. So, whatever. I go to school, I work. I’ve been working since I was fourteen years old. I’m definitely not a lazy person. But when you’re starving and dehydrated it’s definitely nice to lay around sometimes.
Holmes: Who else was laying around?
McLeod: When we were on the Beauty tribe, Jeremiah and LJ would wake us up with rice in the morning. So, Jefra, Alexis, and I would lay down and sleep in. It was great. But, I got the slack for that even though the other two girls were laying right there with me.

Holmes: Speaking of Alexis, she made it sound like you had given up out there. That you were upset when your tribe had won immunity because you wanted to go home. Is that accurate?
McLeod: No, not at all. I was so happy when we won because I knew I wasn’t going to go home. When we went to that first Tribal I thought I was going home for sure. When Brice got voted out, I was happy because it wasn’t me, but Brice was my only ally out there. So, for her to say that, I think she was just trying to stir the pot.

Holmes: LJ sends you away fifteen minutes into the show. Then you were in the minority on the Beauty tribe, you’re in good shape for about an hour during the merge, then Kass flips. Was there ever a point where you felt safe out there?
McLeod: When we voted out Alexis, I was having fun. I was so excited. I felt for sure that we were going to be six strong. We were going to be the final six and most likely I was going to be in the final three. I can admit it; I was a goat toward the end. None of us thought that Kass was going to do that to us.
Holmes: What was your relationship like with Kass?
McLeod: For her to say that I completely ignored her and never talked to her, that is true once she flipped. But before that we’d lay down and go to sleep and she’s tell me stories and we were laughing. So, I had no idea that she thought that we just hated her. I think that was in her head a little bit.

Holmes: I was shocked last week when Sarah told me that you and her were besties. I feel like we haven’t seen any of your relationships. Who else were you close with?
McLeod: You really didn’t get to see Tasha and I. Once Sarah was voted out and we were all alone, we were like best friends out there. We slept together, we kept each other warm. We would eat rice together. That’s why I said, “Good luck,” to her last night. Tasha was my girl.

Holmes: Did you and LJ ever manage to make peace?
McLeod: No. Not really. When we were doing the idol hunt, Tash and I approached him, “Can you get with us? Save us!” And he was like, “Nope, I’m good. Let’s keep looking for the idol.” So, we didn’t leave on the best note. But, that’s the game.
Holmes: During the premiere LJ basically said, “Jefra and Alexis are cute and Morgan is hot. I don’t trust hot.” I don’t know about you, but I’ve never been punished for being hot before.
McLeod: (Laughs)
Holmes: Was that weird to hear?
McLeod: It was really weird. I didn’t understand why LJ just didn’t like me. You saw from the start he wanted me gone. I’d never come across that before. Maybe he’s had some girl issues in the past. Maybe I remind him of an ex-girlfriend or something. For him to call me out on how hot people shouldn’t be trusted, I thought it was hilarious.

Holmes: Alright, word association time. Let’s start with Jeremiah.
McLeod: Oh man…good ol’ boy.
Holmes: Jefra?
McLeod: Sweet.
Holmes: Tony?
McLeod: Can I say like, “guido?”
Holmes: Much like Outback Steakhouse, there are no rules here. LJ?
McLeod: Annoying.
Holmes: Trish?
McLeod: Good hearted.
Holmes: Woo?
McLeod: He’s like silent out there. We didn’t talk at all.
Holmes: Brice?
McLeod: Awesome.
Holmes: Latasha?
McLeod: Sassy.
Holmes: Spencer?
McLeod: Genius.
Holmes: Kass?
McLeod: Invisible to me.

Holmes: Your edit was very negative. How has that affected your life outside the game?
McLeod: Before last night it was mostly positive. A lot of people were rooting for me. But, last night it took a turn for the worse. A lot of people are very mad at me. They’re mad at what I said. You know, I said those things when I was very upset, very tired, and very hungry. Usually people have a friend or boyfriend to go behind closed doors and say those things when they’re really upset. But, I didn’t have that, I had a camera. It’s not who I am every day. I’m actually a nice person, believe it or not.
Holmes: Aww…I believe it. Overall was the experience a positive one?
McLeod: Oh yeah. It was very cool. I don’t regret anything. From the start, everyone thought I was going to be the first one voted out, and I fought my way to the jury. I’m proud and I don’t regret it

Last Week: Sarah fought the lawyer and the lawyer won.

39 Days, 18 People, 1 “Survivor” Blog

Let’s take a look at the tribe as it currently stands.

The Solarrion Tribe (wearing black)
Jefra – Miss Kentucky Teen USA, 22
Jeremiah – Model, 34
Kassandra – Attorney, 41
Latasha – Accountant, 37
LJ – Horse Trainer, 34
Morgan – Ex-NFL Cheerleader, 21
Spencer – Economics Student, 21
Tony – Police Officer, 39
Trish – Pilates Trainer, 48
Woo – Martial Arts Instructor, 29

Things kick off after last week’s fiasco and Spencer is congratulating the victors on a wild Tribal. He tells Kass that he’s not mad, but he thinks it’s a bad move. My dad was the king of that, he was never mad, he was just disappointed.

Later on, Spencer loses it a bit when he hears Kass talking strategy. But, he’s not mad.

Kass lets us know that she thinks the people she stabbed in the back will get over it. Because that’s what “Survivor” juries are known for; getting over it.

The next morning, Morgan doesn’t think Kass likes her because she’s a “bitter, ugly, old lady.” Well, it certainly sounds like Morgan likes her.

Morgan then does her trademark thing where she compliments herself after worrying about sounding conceited. Just be conceited, save yourself some words.

Next up, Probst asks the guys to come on in, and they totally do.

Reward Challenge Time: The players will be divided into two teams. They’ll race through the water through several obstacles and retrieve a chest. They’ll then drag the chest up a tower. Inside the chest is the final piece of a puzzle. First tribe to finish the puzzle gets a trip to a special Outback Steakhouse.

Outback Steakhouse: No Rules, Just Right!

I was in Cagayan, where was my Outback dinner?! I love me some bloomin’ onions.

Kass, Tony, Woo, Trish, and Tasha are on the purple team. LJ, Jeremiah, Jefra, Spencer, and Morgan are on the orange team.

The challenge starts off and things are pretty even until Woo falls off the balance beam and slows his team down. Maybe he’d do better if the beam was shaped like a dog house.

Both tribes get the chest to the wall at about the same time, but the purple team is doing a better job of getting it up the wall.

In the end, LJ and Spencer fly through the puzzle and win it for the orange team.

Back at camp, Tony and Trish want to know who Kass wants to target, but she’s being non-committal about who’s side she’s on. Oh man, that never works out well.

Tony isn’t worried because he’s a cop and he’s good at reading people. Just like Sarah?

Over at the fake Outback Steakhouse, our victors are greeted by pineapple/bacon margaritas. That’s…like…all three of the things I like in this world.

While Spencer is eating, he finds an idol clue in his napkin. Seriously, Spencer? You’re the super fan. You should’ve been rifling through all of those napkins.

Woo gets it though. He knows that people who go on rewards find clues in napkins. He follows Spencer and breaks into his “Ninja Stealth Mode.” He catches Spence digging into a wall.

Now, here’s where it gets hilarious. Spencer had placed the clue in his pants. He took off the pants when he went digging. Woo found the clue and ran off.  Spencer’s having a rough couple of days.

Woo and Spencer return to camp and each side gets their buddies together for an idol hunt. Tony gets the line of the night when he says you know it must be serious if Morgan got up to look for it.

Spencer eventually uncovers the idol and does a good job of not letting anyone know that he found it. He reads the instructions that came with the clue, and apparently it’s a normal idol. So we have normal idols and super special idols in play at the same time? Maybe if you play them both at the same time you become a unicorn!

Immunity Challenge Time: Players will have to stand on their tippy toes while holding a block against a board with their head. Last person standing wins immunity.

Kass is almost immediately out. She gets the Crystal Cox award. Jeremiah, Trish, and Tony are right behind her.

Morgan’s out at the 25-minute mark. She’s followed by Woo.

We lose Jefra at the one-hour mark. We’re down to LJ, Spencer, and Latasha.

C’mon, Probst! Offer them peanut butter!

LJ is the first one out and we’ve got a battle of the brains.

At the one hour, thirty-minute mark  Latasha finally caves. Spencer wins immunity.

Politicking around camp has Team Tony wanting to target Morgan because the other alliance wouldn’t save her with an idol. However, Tony’s Plan B will be to target Latasha if they pull any idol shenanigans.

Spencer tries to get Kass back on board by telling her that it could help her win jury votes. She tells him that she considers herself a free agent.

Kass later tells us that she “loves the blindside.” Me too, oh Chaotic One.

That night at Tribal Council, Kass says she got the cold shoulder from the people she betrayed.

Spencer admits he did feel betrayed and that he got out of hand. He’s also super psyched to have immunity. But, he’d trade it if it gave him a better shot at winning.

Morgan doesn’t think she’s a physical threat and she thinks people don’t like her. What? That didn’t sound conceited at all.

Trish thinks Morgan left out “doesn’t help around camp.” Ooooh…Boston burn!

Probst thinks that Morgan is used to people taking care of her. She agrees. She also thinks people would rather be ugly than cute.

Then, she says she’ll try to work harder around camp. Yeah, but could she be cuter around camp?

Jefra looks at her alliance as a chain and no person is on the bottom. Buh…

Fun Fact: If you hold a chain up at one end, a link is definitely on the bottom.

Tony thinks Kass is in a comfortable place. Probst thinks she’s unpredictable and could be setting them up.

Voting Time: No votes are shown. Oy…

J-Pro tallies, etc. We’ve got four votes for Tony, five votes for Morgan, and the ninth person to be eliminated from “Survivor: Cagayan” and the second member of the jury is…Morgan.

Verdict: Boy, Chaos Kass the Wild Card is sure making things interesting. Loving this season, but I’m worried about the new mega idol. Guess we’ll see how it plays out.

Power Rankings Results: Ciera had Morgan in spot five, I had her in spot nine. So, the current score is Team Ciera 62, Team Gordon 74.

Who’s Going to Win? Right now I’m thinking it comes down to however wins the inevitable showdown between LJ and Tony. Trish could have a shot, too. The people left in the game don’t hate her the way Lindsay did.

‘Survivor: Cagayan’ Power Rankings – Kass Hysteria Edition

The Rules: Each week our two combatants will create separate power rankings. The ranking of the person who is voted out of the next episode will determine the number of points the two players will earn. For example, if Woo is voted out this week, Ciera will receive 1 point and Gordon will receive 5 points. At the end of the season, the person with the most points will be named the “Survivor: Cagayan” Power Rankings Challenge Champion.

Last Week’s Results: Ciera had Sarah in spot eight, Gordon had her in spot five. So, the current score is Team Ciera 57, Team Gordon 65.

Ciera’s Score = 57

Any advice for Ciera? Drop her a line on Twitter: @cieraeastin

Gordon’s Score = 65

Any advice for Gordon? Drop him a line on Twitter: @gordonholmes

 1. Woo – I thought that after Cliff left Woo would be lost. But Woo seems to be doing okay. He’s not a loud voice in his alliance and doesn’t seem to be “Russeling” too many feathers on either side. He won the immunity challenge and I could see him winning this week as well. Either way I think Woo will be safe this week.   1. Jefra – Quick Note:I don’t know how to base rankings around the new magic idol. My understanding is movie mogul Tyler Perry invented it, you can play it after the vote is read, and it gets you free admission and a small popcorn at the next Madea movie. However, not knowing who’s going to find it, I’m going to rank without it.

Close one for you last week, Jefra. But here you are now, safe and sound in the top spot in the rankings. Chaos Kass stunned the world and made you the least threatening person in the dominant alliance. Not only that, but you’re probably both Tony and LJ’s dream pick for the final three.

 2. Tony – Using your hidden immunity idol was a necessary move if you wanted to have any chance of not being picked off like flies moving forward. Giving LJ the idol gained you a TON of respect from your alliance and definitely from LJ.
  2. LJ – Aww…you protected Tony with your idol. Best friends 4-ever! However, it can’t feel good to be besties with someone who loves deceiving and has no problem making major moves. Tony does not want to go to the end with you, so you’ve got to figure out when it makes sense for him to cut you loose and do it to him first.
 3. LJ – Giving Tony your hidden immunity idol was a big statement. I have such mixed feelings on it. Because of your relationship with the Beauties and because you showed your alliance you’re trustworthy I think you are safe this week.
  3. Trish – It looks like the merge was just what Trish needed. Everyone has taken the heat off of her. Now she’s got to figure out who can she beat in the end. LJ and Tony are making moves. Woo is winning immunities. She might want to try to get some girl power going.

 4. Jefra – Letting other people do all the strategizing can definitely be a strategy in itself. And that seems to be Jefra’s game plan so far and she’s doing it quite well. Seeing her name written down this week might have lit a fire under her to start fighting a little more and I would love to see it.   4. Tony – Someone asked me last week how I thought Tony compared to “Survivor” Hall of Famer Russell Hantz. It might be too soon to have this discussion, but I think that’s a fascinating question. Hantz was a fearless player who lacked one key component; a social game. He’d pick fights when they weren’t necessary. Tony seems to be doing alright socially. A perfect example was him congratulating Woo as he fell out of the challenge. I could absolutely see this cast rewarding Tony with the big prize.

 5. Morgan –  Being the girl who everyone underestimates can be a great place to be, because no one will see it coming when you turn on the heat. Morgan does not really have anyone at this point but if she can hold on a little longer I’ll be rooting for her to turn on the heat and take it home.   5. Woo – With all the craziness that’s been going on the past few episodes, let’s not forget that Woo was solidly in Camp Cliff. Add his challenge prowess to his new-found standing on Team Tony and you might have an early target.
 6. Trish –  She showed great game by catching on to the little argument she overheard and then exploiting it. I give Trish all credit for the Kass flip. Tony has her back and LJ has heart. She seems to be in pretty great hands. She needs to stop being so confrontational though and lay low.   6. Latasha – So close, Latasha. You were about to be on top of the world. Then Chaos Kass went and roused some rabble. (Is that how it works.) Anyway, there are more attractive targets than you at this point if you can stay out of the limelight.
 7. Jeremiah – Jeremiah did show his loyalty this week to his new alliance members. But now that Kass has flipped no one knows what will happen. He is a huge social threat, and holds his own in challenges so if people are wanting to keep targeting the big treats Jeremiah could be hurting.
  7. Spencer – OK, for those of you who think Kass flipped because her woobie was hurt, check out my exit interview with Sarah where she admits that her, Spencer, and Jeremiah were already targeting Kass. That being said, this isn’t Spencer’s first time with his back against the wall. If he can stay in this thing, he’ll have some friends on the jury. But the question is, who can he work with?
 8. Kass –  Flipping on your tribe just got you from spot #3 to spot #6. Not a good move. One of two things could happen for you… you could have either just made yourself the perfect goat to take along for the ride, OR you could have just solidified yourself as too untrustworthy and the next to go.  8. Chaos Kass –  I didn’t love your move last week, but if you were on the bottom of the Aparri alliance you had to do something. Unfortunately for you, the game isn’t too kind to flippers. And in cases like John Fincher, revenge can come quickly. Also, the playing of both idols tells me that Team Tony wasn’t quite sure that you’d flip. So, how much can they trust you?
 9. Latasha –  Tasha was the voice in her alliance and that voice should have been keeping crazy Kass a lot happier. Now that she has lost her advantage with the numbers she needs to start solidifying relationships on the other side. And unfortunately it’s probably a little too late.   9. Morgan – The preview makes it look like Kass and Morgan are headed for a showdown, but there really isn’t a strategic reason to get rid of Morgan at this point. My bet is that the Team Chaos targets the immunity threats first.
 10. Spencer – Noooooooooooo. That’s all I can say about this. Spencer went from an amazing spot to an incredibly crappy spot. Which can happen so quickly in this game, which is why you have to be able to adapt. Hopefully Spencer can adapt and he won’t be leaving this week.   10. Jeremiah – Jeremiah, remember in Morgan’s entry where I referred to “Immunity threats?” I was talking about you. Get your idol-finding shoes on.

“Survivor” Challenge Producer John Kirhoffer is one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. He’s smart, he’s funny, he’s generous with his beer, he’s one of the greatest foosball players the world has ever known. He’s truly a five-star guy.

But if that’s all true, why do so many “Survivor” players curse his name? Well, it might have something to do with challenges like the one he’s set up for this week…

 [iframe http://xfinitytv.comcast.net/watch/Survivor%3A-Cagayan/7054975368782091112/219682883718/inmunity-challenge-preview/embed 580 476]

And, here are some exclusive photos from Mr. Kirhoffer’s evil experiment…

The ten remaining contestants stand in a soaked field, unaware of the horrors that await them.

Jeremiah and Trish hang in there while Woo wonders how he can apply standing on a dog house or pressing a block with his head to his everyday life.

Morgan, Jefra, and Jeremiah give it their best shot. Meanwhile, the challenge crew is thankful they didn't have to build a 12-foot frame for Cliff.

Morgan seems to be having no problems with this challenge. Maybe she has ballerina training?

LJ takes a zen approach to the challenge while Latasha and Spencer passionately hate Kass.

The game of “Survivor” lasts 39 arduous days. And that’s not just for the people who make it all the way to the end. The people who are sent packing need to fill that time too. So, in the spirit of XFINITY Watchathon Week, I asked this season’s castaways which shows they would watch if they had a ton of time to kill…

Brice Johnston: I love “The Walking Dead.” I love “Game of Thrones.” I love “True Detective” on HBO. So, I’d definitely binge watch all of those shows.

Cliff Robinson: There’s one show that people keep telling me about and I haven’t had an opportunity to watch it is, “Banshee.” I like all the HBO shows, once I’m hooked on one I try to DVR it or catch it On Demand.

Alexis Maxwell: I’m like a TV connoisseur. “Girls,” I love “Girls.” It’s such a good show. It’s very realistic, like uncomfortably real. And it’s so funny because of it.

Sarah Lacina: If I had a week where I couldn’t do anything but sit at home, I’d probably watch…”Game of Thrones.”

Lindsey Ogle: I’m into “Once Upon a Time.” That’s my show right now. My daughter and I, we watch it together. Maybe it’s just a general feeling of something to look forward to, relaxing with her.

‘Survivor’ Castaway Sarah: Kass Was ‘Wreaking Havoc Around Camp’

The problem with being a swing vote is that it’s a position that draws a lot of attention and can easily be taken away.

Police officer extraordinaire Sarah Lacina learned that the hard way.

I spoke with the former member of Cops R Us this morning and got her take on last night’s blindside, Tony’s lies, and her surprise BFF…

Gordon Holmes: Last night’s Tribal was just…wow. Did you have any idea that Chaos Kass was going to throw you guys under the bus?
Sarah Lacina: No, I didn’t. I kind of picked up that the other tribe was going to vote for me once they realized I wasn’t going to flip. I tried to hold off as long as I could. I knew from before they hit the beach that I was staying. I didn’t want them to know because I’d rather them come to me than someone else because I was afraid of them flipping. And sure enough, that’s what happened. But, I was sitting at Tribal Council and it was a total roller coaster. LJ and Tony are patting each other on the back thinking, “Ha! We got ‘em.” And then the first name Jeff reads is Jefra, and I turn around and give them a little smirk. And it took forever for Jeff to read the votes, and I’m thinking, “We already know Jefra is going home. Just say it.” And before he reads the final vote, I look back at Jefra and she’s got tears in her eyes and I’m thinking, “See ya.” Then he reads “Sarah.” It took me a minute to process it. I’m telling myself, “You have to get up because you have to leave now.”

Holmes: In hindsight, were you trying to take charge of the alliance or did you think these conversations were just spirited discussions? Because whatever it was managed to alienate Kass.
Lacina: I didn’t feel like we were alienating her at all. We were having conversations as a six-some. I felt strongly about it being time to get a power player out. I knew how dangerous LJ and Tony were. I wanted them out of the game. I was going to stand firm to that. This is my game, it’s an individual game for everyone. And I’m not going to let the fate of my game sit in someone else’s hands. If they think I’m going to take a backseat, then I have to look at my options and go somewhere else. I sound like a diva saying it has to go my way, but I felt the vote needed to go the way I wanted it to.
Holmes: From what I’m seeing on the show, I’d be assuming that Kass would be the last person to jump. You’ve got numbers with the six, then she’s in the smaller alliance with the Brains.
Lacina: No. Spencer, Jeremiah, and I were very close out there. And we said we’d take it to the final six as a group. Then as a threesome, we had discussed getting Kass out earlier because she was causing so many problems around camp. And not just with me, she was just wreaking havoc around camp. I knew it was not going to end up good the way it was going.

Holmes: What was it like to come home and watch on TV how much Tony was lying?
Lacina: I’ve spoken with Tony since, so I knew I was going to see him talk bad about me or lie. I was surprised by how much he did lie to me. If it were anyone else I wouldn’t have put that much trust in him, but the fact that he’s a cop it was like, I’ve put my life in the hands of other police officers. And they trust me with the same. We had heart-to-heart, hour-long conversations about that. I really felt connected with him. So, I did not expect him to be lying as much as he did. I wasn’t nice to him either, I called him a “dumb ass” and “stupid.”  So, I wasn’t a peach to him either.
Holmes: But you meant “dumb ass “ in the nicest way possible.
Lacina: (Laughs) Yeah, exactly.
Holmes: Is that why you were so convinced that he didn’t have an idol?
Lacina: Yeah. Tony does not come off as super smart. He comes off as sneaky. Lindsey said, “I don’t think he could count to 20 with his shoes on.” He’s definitely a lot smarter than he looks.
Holmes: In the pre-game you made it sound like you were going to get rid of Tony quickly because he was a cop. What changed?
Lacina: I wanted nothing to do with Tony. It changed when I found out we were on the same tribe.  It turned into a “Keep your friends close and your enemies closer” situation. I wanted him in my back pocket so I could keep an eye on him.

Holmes: Alright, word association time. Let’s start with Trish.
Lacina: Hilarious and loyal.
Holmes: Woo?
Lacina: Chill.
Holmes: Tony?
Lacina: Sneaky.
Holmes: Latasha?
Lacina: Determined
Holmes: Spencer?
Lacina: Bud.
Holmes: Morgan?
Lacina: Awesome…wait…bad ass.
Holmes: LJ?
Lacina: Horse whisperer.
Holmes: You’re not the first person to give that answer.
Lacina: (Laughs) I know!
Holmes: Let’s finish with Kass.
Lacina: Ridiculous.

Holmes: Let’s jump back in there. You said Morgan is “awesome.” During these exit interviews it seems like most people didn’t click with her. Did you two get along?
Lacina: Morgan is the (expletive deleted). Between her, Trish, and Jefra, those are my best friends from the show. Morgan and I are like the duo you would never expect to get along. We mesh super well. We think the same things are hilarious and we hate the same people.

Holmes: What has the reaction been like from other police officers?
Lacina: My co-workers at my local department are great. They couldn’t be more proud. They felt like I honored our badge and played an honorable game. I’m happy with their reaction. And other states, people have contacted me and said, “Thank you for staying true to your badge.”

Last Week: Lindsey quit cause she thought Trish was a jerk, Tony’s idol clue ruse didn’t quite work, and poor Alexis twerked her last twerk.

39 Days, 18 People, 1 “Survivor” Blog

Let’s take a look at the tribes as they currently stand.…

The Aparri Tribe (wearing orange)
Jeremiah – Model, 34
Kassandra – Attorney, 41
Latasha – Accountant, 37
Morgan – Ex-NFL Cheerleader, 21
Sarah – Police Officer, 29
Spencer – Economics Student, 21

The Solana Tribe (wearing purple)
Jefra – Miss Kentucky Teen USA, 22
LJ – Horse Trainer, 34
Tony – Police Officer, 39
Trish – Pilates Trainer, 48
Woo – Martial Arts Instructor, 29

We meet up with Aparrians after Tribal Council and the vibe around camp is that they’re going to try stay a solid six. That will not happen.

The newly united alliance wants to know who to target in case there’s a merge. Trish’s name is thrown around randomly. Hey, get to know her before you hate her.

Sarah says that Top Six sounds better than Top Five. Wait, what?

The next morning, Kass tells Sarah that she’s a little worried that she could flip. Oh, well now that you’ve told her that you’re concerned about it, she’s sure to be true to the alliance.

Over at Solana, tree mail says it’s time for Mergeville, Population 11.

Tony and LJ both scurry off to retrieve their idols. Tony says he’s willing to use it to save his alliance. LJ makes no such declaration.

The Solana five arrive on Aparri beach and we’re officially merged.

Jefra is bummed that Alexis isn’t around anymore. You and me both, Jefra.

A note lets them all that an idol with “Special Powers” is located around camp. Oh…I hope it’s X-ray vision!

The tribe starts debating their new name, and they decide on “Solarrion.” I wonder whose mother’s name backwards that is…

Tony thinks he can get Sarah back because she swore on her badge. But the sarge took her badge because he was sick of explaining her renegade antics to the commissioner!

He approaches Sarah and asks where she stands. He asks her to swear on her badge again, and she doesn’t.  Maybe I was right about the commissioner thing.

Later, things get testy as Sarah, Jeremiah, and Kass are debating strategy. Jeremiah thinks that LJ has an idol, so they should target Woo. Sarah doesn’t want to vote for Trish.

Kass lets us know that she doesn’t trust cops. Heh, she’s not the only “Survivor” lawyer who thinks that way.

The next morning, Latasha does her best to bring Sarah on board. Kass takes this as an insult. What a mess.

Immunity Challenge Time: Players will balance on a doghouse-looking platform. As time goes by, they’ll move up to a higher position. Last person standing win immunity.

Note: This exact challenge was done in “Survivor: Caramoan” and was dominated by tiny little ladies. It was criticized for being unfair to heavier people. Let’s see if that happens again.

Round One: Everyone survives.

Round Two: Everyone survives again.

Final Round: Spencer, Kass, Sarah, Jefra, and LJ are immediately out. Tasha, Trish, and Jeremiah quickly follow them. It’s down to Tony, Woo, and Morgan. A gust of wind takes out Morgan. Gravity takes out Tony. Woo wins immunity.

Tony lasted  a long time, I guess it’s a fair challenge.

Back at camp, Sarah’s still trying to decide which side to go with. Right now she’s leaning toward Aparri because they’re worse at challenges.

Aparri discusses who to vote for; Spencer and Latasha want Jefra, Sarah wants LJ or Tony because she doesn’t think they have idols. Oh man.

Sarah calling the shots is driving Kass insane. But Kass, Sarah has brilliant insights like “Tony definitely doesn’t have an idol.”

Tony tries to get Sarah on board again. She says she’ll make her decision at Tribal Council. Yeah, that never happens.

Trish approaches Kass and tries to bring her into the fold. Kass doesn’t commit, but Trish tells her they’ll all be voting for Sarah.

Oh and Kass gave herself the nickname “Chaos Kass.” I’ll second that nickname if she creates some chaos at Tribal.

That night at Tribal Council, LJ thinks he’s in the hottest seat in town. That sounds like a strip joint.

Latasha thinks he should be worried because he is a threat.

Tony thinks you don’t move forward with an alliance of numbers, you move forward with an alliance of comfort. That’s a nice sentiment. Probably isn’t true though.

Kass says she’d be worried if she was a strong, male who was doing well in challenges.

LJ thinks there might not be any idols and that it’s a “Survivor” joke. Tony disagrees because he has an idol.

Zing!

Tony tells Probst that he’s going to play his idol for his tribe. Spencer doesn’t believe him, so he produces it and puts it on.

Aparri turns to each other and says to vote for “the other one.” Tony thinks this is a good call.

Voting Time: No votes are shown! Uh…DUN DUN DUN!

Shortest Tribal ever…

J-Pro tallies and returns. Tony asks Jeff to validate his idol. Jeff confirms that it is a real idol. Tony then gives the idol to LJ. The Aparri tribe seems cool with this.

Then, LJ gives his idol to Tony. What the what?! Aparri seems less happy. Spencer looks like he’s going to cry.

We’ve got one vote for Jefra, one vote for Sarah, one vote for Jefra, one vote for Sarah, one vote for Jefra, one vote for Sarah, one vote for Jefra, one vote for Sarah, one vote for Jefra, one vote for Sarah, and the eighth person to be eliminated from “Survivor: Cagayan” and the first member of the jury is…Sarah!

Afterward, Kass admits to flipping. Spencer lets her know that she has no chance of winning the game.

Verdict: CHAOS KASS!

That was crazytown. I don’t agree with Chaos Kass’s move. Seems like she had a better shot sticking with the brains and not enraging the jury. But, we’ll see if she has any other tricks up her sleeve.

And Sarah is a perfect example of someone overplaying their hand. She could’ve stayed cool and gone far with whichever alliance she chose.

Power Rankings Results: Ciera had Sarah in spot eight, I had her in spot five. So, the current score is Team Ciera 57, Team Gordon 65.

Who’s Going to Win? Well, Spencer is right, Kass probably can’t win. Of the other five, Tony is building a hell of a resume.

‘Survivor: Cagayan’ Power Rankings: Merge Edition

The Rules: Each week our two combatants will create separate power rankings. The ranking of the person who is voted out of the next episode will determine the number of points the two players will earn. For example, if Woo is voted out this week, Ciera will receive 11 points and Gordon will receive 7 points. At the end of the season, the person with the most points will be named the “Survivor: Cagayan” Power Rankings Challenge Champion.

Last Week’s Results: Ciera had Lindsey in spot twelve. Gordon had her in spot thirteen. Ciera had Alexis in spot ten, while Gordon had her in spot twelve. So, the current score is Team Ciera 49, Team Gordon 60.

Ciera’s Score = 49

Gordon’s Score = 60

Any advice for Gordon? Drop him a line on Twitter: @gordonholmes

 1. Latasha –  Tasha still seems like the leader of the Brains alliance without having the spotlight of being the “leader.” Which is a great position to be in. If people do get wise and want to split up the brains it is very unlikely they target her first.   1. Jefra – Merges aren’t always hard to rank. This one is. The Brawns could reunite. The Beauties could reunite (sans Morgan). Tony’s new fivesome could stick together. The current Aparri tribe still has numbers. Tony and LJ both have idols. I have no idea what’s going to happen Wednesday, but I’m willing to bet that Jefra will still be around when it’s all over.
 2. Kassandra – Again the Brains seem to be holding strong and have picked up a few potential numbers at the tribe swap. Kass is riding under the radar and is probably the least threatening player out there which should allow her to coast through this week.
  2. Morgan – Like I said before, a ton of stuff could go down. But getting rid of Morgan isn’t on top of anyone’s to-do list.
 3. Tony – This week is really tricky with the merge and all .You really start to see where the line is drawn. Tony does have the idol and he does have relationships with the people on his new tribe and Cops R Us with Sarah…if he can save himself from that “final 5” comment he made last week.
  3. Tony – It’s gonna get crazy, buddy. You’ve got some options. Can you woo Sarah back? Is Morgan a swing vote? Does Jeremiah want to partner with LJ again? So much. Keep that idol handy.

 4. LJ –  Another guy with a hidden immunity idol in his hand. I would love to think he wouldn’t be dumb enough to go home with a hidden immunity idol in his pocket but you never know! He did great work by bonding with Trish, and he still has Jefra. LJ is in a good spot this week if he can lay low.   4. LJ – Ever hear that old saying, “A man is only as loyal as his options”? Well, last time LJ was at Tribal he only had one real option. This week he’ll have many. That being said, he should follow the advice I gave Tony and keep his idol close.

 5. Jefra –  Jefra is a shoo-in for someone who you would want to take to the end because you know you can beat her. She’s not making any moves and she’s not really solidifying her spot in an alliance. She’s probably not going anywhere but she’s definitely not playing to win.   5. Sarah – Solana’s chant after the immunity challenge really seemed to get into Aparri’s heads. You’re all convinced that they’re rock solid, when that’s rarely the case. In a funny way, Solana has all the power when they’re still down numbers. If Tony’s smart, he realizes that Sarah is his best bet to swing the vote.
 6. Trish –  With conditions being so bad out there, and everyone Hangry (So hungry you become angry) Trish’s drama and loud voice could get her booted. Being too open and vocal about who you like and don’t like is not a good thing and people really could start to get annoyed with that.   6. Kassandra – It’s looking like the Brains have two ways to go; play way under the radar at the merge or try to solidify an alliance with Morgan, Jeremiah, and Sarah. I have no idea what’s going to happen, but if the Brains block finds themselves in trouble, I doubt Kassandra will be the first one to go.
 7. Morgan – She’s definitely on the outs of her current tribe and has no ties to the other tribe. But come merge time that might not be too bad of a thing.
  7. Woo – Maybe the Aparri voting block will stay together. Maybe it’ll be a Parvati-esque sitution where the Solanians have to give the idols to the right people. That could be bad news for Woo. That, and Woo is definitely a challenge threat.
 8. Sarah –  She seemed fully committed to Cops R Us until she heard Tony yell “final 5.” She said she is all in with her new tribe and alliance but the question is will Tony be able to reel her back in? Being a swing vote can either be a great thing of a terrible thing. I guess we’ll find out!  8. Trish – Trish cemented herself as the perfect person to take to the end. She’ll accrue jury votes in the same way the Cubs accrue World Championships. But, if she rubs the Aparrians the wrong way, they could unite to bounce her.
 9. Spencer –  Let me start by saying that if Spencer goes home my heart will break. In his current tribe he is in a great spot the issue comes in because merge time people want to get rid of the big threats. He has shown to be great in the challenges, he’s obviously smart, and he’s the only male in a major alliance.   9. Spencer – Solana has the idols and they have the momentum. The question is; LJ aligned with Tony when he had to, but will he stick with him now that his options have opened up? Could the Brains team work with LJ, Jefra, and Jeremiah? So many questions.
 10. Jeremiah –  Jeremiah does a great job of deflecting attention off of himself. But he doesn’t have an alliance, and he is a huge threat, with the merge around the corner that is a terrible combo.   10. Jeremiah – Your fate is in your buddy LJ’s hands. LJ knows Tony tried to set you up. LJ could let that cat out of the bag and everyone will know how hard Tony is playing the game. Or, LJ could think taking Tony to the end is a good way to get a million bucks.
11. Woo – Having Cliff gone really sucked for Woo…and then having Lindsey quit double sucked for Woo. His alliance is dropping like flies and he is the lone ranger. He is a big threat not only in the challenges but socially. 11. Latasha – As the dominant member of the dominant alliance in the tribe that is falling apart, this could be it for you. I hope it isn’t, you’re my preseason pick and you’ve been through a lot.

‘Survivor’ Castaway Alexis: ‘I Think I Twerked Just the Right Amount’

[xfinity-record-button id=”7054975368782091112″ program_type=”series”]

I remember back in the day when players didn’t leave the game because of murderous rage or fear of their loved ones replacing them on Redemption Island. Back then, people were voted out by a jury of their peers for strategic reasons.

Good times.

I spoke with the most recent victim of one of those old-fashioned eliminations the morning after her torch snuffed. During the conversation we discussed why she was targeted, Morgan’s anatomy, and twerking…

Gordon Holmes: Alright, which one are you? The one who didn’t quit?
Alexis Maxwell: (Laughs) That’s me.
Holmes: OK, good. Last night you were so emotional after being voted out, as anyone would be. What’s it like to see Lindsey throw in the towel in the same episode?
Maxwell: It’s a stark contrast to how I exited. Seeing someone quit is never good. Part of the reason I was crying so much is I was thinking of all the fans that wanted to play and I felt like I let them down. I took a spot away from someone and blew it. So, I couldn’t imagine being a quitter.

Holmes: Was the vote a blindside or did you see it coming?
Maxwell: It shouldn’t have been a blindside. I should’ve been smarter than that, but it was 100%. I had no idea. The whole Tribal I was thinking of how proud I was of myself for making the merge. I was so excited. I was thinking of post-merge plans. I really didn’t think it was me going home.
Holmes: Was it your relationship with LJ and Jefra that made them choose you?
Maxwell: Yeah, I think I was too upfront about it. I thought when I was telling the Brains that I could pull in Jefra, I thought it was helping my case. It put a bigger target on my back.

Holmes: We’re five episodes into this season and I have no read on Morgan. Help me out here.
Maxwell: When I was out there I really didn’t know anything about her either. (Laughs) We didn’t really talk very much out there. She didn’t really talk to anybody. She had very interesting gameplay. Nobody considered voting her out because she was very not threatening. I said in one of my scenes that I wanted to keep her till the final three because there’s no way anyone would vote for her for the million. She’s a goat. Her gameplay was good for getting her far, but I don’t think it was strategy.
Holmes: She wasn’t connecting with anyone.
Maxwell: She really wasn’t. I don’t think her heart was in it. I thought she was going to quit. It didn’t seem like she wanted to be there. One time we won a challenge and I think she was sad because she wanted to go home.

Holmes: Was there ever any talk of the Beauties sticking together after the swap?
Maxwell: There was no talk of it at all which was obviously very dumb of us. I guess we all had a perfect wedge between us. I think we all thought we were doing the same thing which put them in the power position. They got so much information without having to give information out.

Holmes: So, your plan was to have twerking be a major component of your strategy?
Maxwell: (Laughs) It got me on the show because I used that in my application video. It was kind of funny. It’s what me and my friends do for fun. I didn’t think it’d be a topic of conversation on “Survivor.” (Laughs)
Holmes: I don’t know where the line is, Alexis. That’s an unanswered question. Did you twerk too much? Did you not twerk enough?
Maxwell: (Laughs) I think I twerked just the right amount.
Holmes: I feel like that’s something you can build on.
Maxwell: 100%. It’ll get me jobs in the future. I’ll have a nice career.

Holmes: Were there any visible cracks in the Brain alliance?
Maxwell: It seemed like Tasha and Kass were a solid unit. It seemed like Spencer was their puppy.  And that’s why I thought Spencer was good to talk to because he wasn’t running the alliance.

Holmes: What role was Sarah playing as the lone Brawny member?
Maxwell: It put her in a good spot. There was no threat to send her home. I didn’t want Sarah to get to the merge because she had so many people on the other side. But when Lindsey and Cliff disappeared it really hurt me and helped her.

Holmes: Alright, word association time. Let’s start with LJ.
Maxwell: Horse whisperer. (Laughs) The horse dude.
Holmes: Jefra?
Maxwell: My girl.
Holmes: Jeremiah?
Maxwell: Annoying.
Holmes: Spencer?
Maxwell: Mixed feelings.
Holmes: Kass?
Maxwell: She’s funny. I like her.
Holmes: Brice?
Maxwell: My favorite! I love Brice.
Holmes: Join the club. Latasha?
Maxwell: Powerful.
Holmes: Let’s finish with Morgan.
Maxwell: Boobies. (Laughs)
Holmes: C’mon, Alexis. This is a family site.
Maxwell: (Laughs)
Holmes: Here we had a nice classy interview going.
Maxwell: I think it went well.

Holmes: What’s your takeaway from your time on the show?
Maxwell: I don’t think a lot of what I learned pertains to real life. I learned how to play better the next time. But the lessons won’t be applicable to my life. I learned to not think of the best-case scenario. I learned to be more paranoid and not see the good in people. But I would never bring that to my real life. I like my young, positive outlook.

‘Survivor’ Castaway Lindsey – ‘I Was Going to Kick the **** Out of (Trish)’

March 27, 2014

Lindsey Ogle and Jeff Probst (CBS)

NOTE: XFINITY TV is the place to be for all sorts of “Survivor: Cagayan” back-stabbin’, torch-snuffin’ fun. We’ll have Power Rankings with “Blood vs. Water” competitor Ciera Eastin, every Wednesday evening we’ll bring you a recap of the most recent episode, and every Thursday you’ll be able to watch the previous night’s episode and read an interview with the eliminated contestant. [xfinity-record-button id=”7054975368782091112″ program_type=”series”]

Getting on “Survivor” is really hard. Before Jeff Probst ever hands you a buff you have to go through interviews and more interviews, and tests, and shots, and crazy travel. It’s way intense.

So, for Lindsey to quit because she was worried about “flipping out” on Trish should tell you a lot about their relationship.

I spoke to the latest in the disturbingly long list of “Survivor” quitters the morning after she decided to pack it in. We had a chance to talk about her big decision, Probst’s reaction, and a challenge for her former Brawny buddy…

Gordon Holmes: Fill me in on this feud.
Lindsey Ogle: Trish and I were like fire and ice from the beginning. Have you ever met someone before where you don’t get along, and you know it, and it’s like a mosquito bite in your eyeball. You just want to (Screams). She was one of those that would stand up and watch people work and instruct. I didn’t get it. I didn’t have any respect for her.
Holmes: Clashing personalities is one of the reasons “Survivor” is still on 100 seasons later.
Ogle: You see it on the show and you’re like, “Oh well, it’s not that bad.” Oh gosh, it got to the point where I thought I was going to pull all of my hair out. We didn’t get along, she didn’t respect me.  I didn’t respect me. She kicked me when I was down. We hadn’t eaten, we hadn’t slept. And Cliff had just been blindsided. And it wasn’t because of Cliff that I threw in the towel. It was about whether or not I should stay and put up with it. But, the hands started shaking, I was sweating, I started pacing. I was almost to the point where…you get really primitive out there. I’m going to rip her face off. That’s how I seriously felt. I have a seven-year-old girl, and there’s a line that you cannot cross. She’s going to look at this and say, “My mom was a jerk. She beat up this thin, older lady. Not cool.” If it cost me a million dollars then…it’s a million-dollar lesson.

Holmes: Let’s be perfectly clear, when you used the term “flipping out” you literally meant you were going to physically assault Trish.
Ogle: Oh, I was going to kick the (expletive deleted) out of her.
Holmes: (Laughs)
Ogle: A lot of people who know me…I have man strength. It’s the first time in eight years that I’ve thought, “I’m going to cut you. I’m going to beat the snot out of you.” And I hate saying that, but that’s what was going through my mind. And it wasn’t some 30-second argument.  I was worried about her well-being.
Holmes:  Reality TV exists exists because they take two people from different walks of life who might not get along and put them in a situation together. Did you ever dream that they could find someone who would have you reacting this way?
Ogle: I have to deal with a lot of people in my job. I thought, “They could stick me with anybody.”

Holmes: “Survivor” fans hate quitters. What reaction have you been getting?
Ogle: People are saying, “Do you know how many people wanted to be on that show?” I get it. Do you know what I had to do to get on the show? I went through months of ridiculous crap. You have to drop everything you’re doing. I lost thousands of dollars because I have to work. I understand, I get where you’re coming through. In my real life I don’t quit. I did not quit for me.
Holmes: Jeff Probst has been harsh to quitters in the past. But, he seemed very even tempered with you last night. Was there something we didn’t see? Was he worried you’d beat him up?
Ogle: It’s all edited to make the storyline what it needs to be. And I understand that. I was thinking about staying and I kept toying with it. He and I had a basic understanding. He knew it wasn’t because I was some wimp little girl. He was kind of like, “I respect you for that.” And he did say that there hasn’t been anyone who’s quit because they were worried about hurting someone else. And a lot of social media people are saying, “What a lame excuse. You’re so weak.” If you knew my right hook you would think that was the best for everyone involved.

Holmes: Quickly jumping back into the game, did you know that Tony had found an idol?
Ogle: There were talks. Everybody kind of plays their own game. I thought people were being a little too cool about it. There was gossip. I figured he wasn’t the only person with one. There was a little bit of a security blanket. I had suspicions and those suspicions ended up being right.

Holmes: Alright, let’s try some word association. We’ll start with Woo.
Ogle: Ninja calm.
Holmes: LJ?
Ogle: Country man.
Holmes: Sarah?
Ogle: Backstabber.
Holmes: Jefra?
Ogle: I guess…honky tonk.
Holmes: Tony?
Ogle: Manipulative.
Holmes: Cliff?
Ogle: Silent one.
Holmes: Trish?
Ogle: Bitch. (Laughs) I’m kidding, I would probably say “mean girls.”

Holmes: You said you were getting grief on social media. Do you have any kind of message you’d like to send out to people who disagree with your move?
Ogle: Yeah, I know that quitters have a bad rep, but I feel like there are reasons behind it. And people need to look at the value of a million dollars isn’t the same for everybody. I know that I learned a couple of really great lessons. Maybe that’s what I needed in my choices. I know that Trish has been saying a lot of things on social media, and any time she wants to, we can get a ref, we’ll put on some 12-ounce gloves. That’d be something fun for me. Sarah’s a different story, I’m not messing with Sarah. But if Trish has as much muscle in her arms as she does in her mouth it could be a pretty good spar.
Holmes: You have to pitch that to Probst for the finale.
Ogle: I would love to do that! Grudge matches of “Survivor.”
